    Two candidates for me:

Championship Manager 00/01, have had the same save game running for two and a half years now, play it regularly, and even after breaks for other games I have been continually returning to it. Have also managed some pretty long sessions on it until the early hours of several mornings. As such I've cpmpleted over 150 seasons with that. Plus the odd bit with an earlier save too.

Elite, makes the two and a half years of returning to a single save above seem quite short. Had a save going for the best part of a decade, would return and play that regularly too, but sadly my save messed up, and the computer I was using was disposed of (the monitor didn't work any more).

    The most addictive game?

Praetorians. I was playing this game for 12 and a half continious hours :D
But of course I don't mean that the BG series, the IWD series and Medieval: Total War were not addictive.

Warcraft III. I played it through in two days. Also... I am seriously addicted to any game I finish. If I finish a game, it means that I didn't stop playing it for days... at least. The one game that I finshed that I wasn't addicted to was Max Payne. I was in the clutches of Tony Hawk for awhile. Diablo 1, 2. BG 1, 2. The list is endless. StarCraft. Age of Empire. Stronghold. All great games which hold you for the count.

Daggerfall hijacked my life a few years back. My brother, father, and I were obsessed with the game, and since we carpooled together at the end of the day, we'd bolt out of the car and race upstairs to see who would get the computer for that evening. Somehow my dad always figured out some chore that needed to be done right away, leaving him to play it himself. It got so bad (or good) that my dad got a copy to play during his lunch hour, and he shuffled his savegame daily between home and office.

Morrowind is ten times the game Daggerfall was, but for whatever reason, my dad and brother weren't hooked the same way as they were with Daggerfall. But as for me...I'm just glad I now have my OWN computer.

Mud and Mist (a smaller version) and nethack.

Those games cost me my degree. Made up for that since, but bloody addictive.

Shining Force II for Sega Genesis used to be my #1, but the original Baldur's Gate, when it first came out, knocked it out of the top spot. Diablo is up there as well (both 1 and 2).

Morrowind and Halo. Morrowind for the mods, Halo for the multiplayer. I haven't gone a day without at least one of these for quite some time now. Yeah I love the IE games, and Fallout 1 and 2, but as was said earlier, you can only play a story driven RPG for so long.

BG 2 for sure, haven't tried BG 1
And Metal Gear Solid. Mind you, I don't get a lot of exposure to different games - I only recently got Res Evil 2!
Metal Gear Solid rules though, perfect combination of stealth and shoot-em-up plus a conscience without taking itself too seriously the rest of the time, making Meryl blush, making Mei Ling poke her tongue out, the bandanna, the stealth unit, smoking...etc etc
