Looks like the widescreen mod. Yes you can use it any resolution - does not even need to be a widescreen resolution.

But it doesn't scale the interface, or make the text bigger. In fact, when playing IWD2 on my 40 inch TV, I set the resolution to 1280 x 720 rather than 1920 x 1080, because it is a lot more comfortable for my eyes. I sit on the couch about 10 feet away, and 1280 x 720 is a comfortable resolution for me with no eyestrain. At 1920 x 1080, things are too small to read easily (I can read them, but not well).

No I don't think I'm using the widescreen mod. I think that's just 1280x1024 stretched to be 1440 tall. I have to play in fullscreen because for some reason the mouse scroll doesn't work properly in windowed.

I just ask because the text looks much bigger in the screenshot on my display set to 1280x1024, and was wondering if I could use the same mod on my old computer which has the CRT set to 1024x768. If I set the 17" CRT to 1280, it makes this high-pitched whining sound that gives me a headache, and has this odd almost flicker that gives me eyestrain. The "flicker" is really hard to put into words as it is quite subtle.
