    @ HB: the theme song did give it away - but I didn't see it until Beren had already nailed the answer!

    As for Beren's clue, I've no idea. The only situation where James Earl-Jones is searching for his daughter I can think of is in the final battle of Return of the Jedi when Darth promises to turn Leia to the darkside after defeating Luke. But as that's neither a TV show nor a real plot line per se, I should stop waffling.

    Gabriel... Something? That's the best I can do. It sounds like something my sister used to watch, not that that really helps. I used to hate my sister's taste in TV and legged it whenever she had control of the remote.

    James Earl Jones' character was a former cop sent to prison for killing his partner. The premise of the show is that a defence lawyer procures his early release and has him working as a private investigator.

    Sounds a little like 'Josie And The *****cats' but that one had a talking shark instead of a dog iirc. Or 'Superfriends' with the two superkids, but then the mad professor would have to be one of their enimies I guess. So I do not think either of these is right.
