We're gonna need another hint here DMC. The only really old cartoons that come to mind are things like top cat.

It was written by Bob Kane in the early sixties. I remember it fondly from my childhood and my black and white Zenith television. 12 UHF channels and a large number of useless VHF channels. I know I'm speaking in tongues for most of you, but there are some fellow fossils who will remember those days. Hopefully they'll remember the show as well.

Wow. I just looked it up, and I think I remember that name, but I'm not sure if I ever saw it.

I wonder if I'd remember it if I saw an episode today.

OK. I'll give away the farm here:

The characters are all animals. Bob Kane wrote Batman and this was a direct spoof of it. The police chief is a dog, the protagonists are a cat and a mouse (they lived in the Catcave and drove the Catmobile).

If no one gets it, I'll chalk one up to being too old and post something slightly more recent.

    Sorry Enagonios, not that blatant.

OK. Too esoteric. It was Courageous Cat and Minute Mouse.

Now, for something ever so slightly more recent:

[IMG] Sorry I let you down, dmc. I'm actually not familiar with your first one. Although in my defence, when it would have been on the air, we only had 3 or 4 channels, and not much in the way of U.S. programing available. I suspect we didn't get that show up here.

Now your second show is another matter, and I believe DHB is correct.

UHF? Zenith? Courageous Cat? No wonder nobody got that one. I also agree that DHB is correct.

Assuming I am correct with no disrespect to dmc's conformation, I shall post a new one.

David Vincent has seen them, for him it began one lost night on a lonely country road, looking for a short cut that he never found.

It began with a closed deserted diner, and a man too long without sleep to continue his journey. It began with the landing of a craft from another galaxy.

Now, David Vincent knows that they are here, that they have taken human form. Somehow he must convince a disbelieving world that the nightmare has already begun.

Went golfing today, so sorry for the belated confirmation.

Jaguar - Zenith was the brand. UHF was the description for channels 2 through 13 on the dial (I think it stands for something like ultra high frequency, but I could be completely mistaken). VHF was a separate dial that had channels from 14 through, I think, 69. I always thought VHF stood for very high frequency, but I'm probably wrong about that too.

Remember that before roughly 1981 the only way to get television was through broadcasts that you would pick up on your antenna (hence the frequency designation - it meant the frequency of the electromagnetic waves being broadcast, similar to the concept behind radio, although am means amplitude modulation and fm means frequency modulation).

And Courageous Cat was truly cool back in the late '60s and early '70s reruns that I saw. Heck, I'll bet everyone here has seen bugs bunny, and that's even older (I think it started in the theaters in the '30's and was on TV pretty much in connection with the early years of television).

Not V, Taken, or First Wave. Though good shows in their own way. This tv series which I have never seen but came across searching for another was one of the few Quinn Martin productions that lasted only a little over a year. It ran from 1967 to 1968 didn't have a big special effects budget but everytime David Vincent killed one of the aliens it turned red and disentigrated into just the burnt outline of a human being on the floor.
