    Same as Takara - Pink Floyd. Quite a lot of material, and it doesn't all sound the same.

    I'd take any CD by Nick Cave. Perhaps No More Shall We Part, as I've not heard all of the songs from it. I'm tempted to say Murder Ballads, but to listen to songs about killing people on an island, well.....plus I listen to it 14 hourd a day, so it kinda would get old.

    Just one artist? Well If I take Floor Jansen I can bring my After Forever CD's and StarOne.

    I think that's the only thing that will do!

    [OFF-TOPIC] ...sorry, but i think it isn't necessary to create a new thread

    I can't understand all the hype with this new wave of gothic metal bands fronted by women...It seems that many people in here like this style a lot. Even my disc is full of the discographies of After Forever, Epica, Tristania, Sirenia, Nightwish, Whitin Temptation in mp3. And I haven't listened carefully to any of it.
    Maybe it's just because the gals are usually beautiful. Or there is some other explanation?

    Is there a lot of hype about a new wave of gothic metal bands fronted by women? I was not aware of any hype. In fact, I have not heard of any new wave gothic metal bands fronted by women. Or any old wave ones, for that matter. I thought the goth craze died out in the late 80s......

    Well, that's not a world-wide mainstream speaking phenomenon, but Nightwish is getting some airplay in the radios (at least here in Portugal). And the number of bands fronted by women is increasing considerably.
    Maybe this is a thing that only metal fans notice, or maybe it's just me...but i doubt it.

    Nightwish is not getting any airplay on any radio stations I listen to, hence the fact I have never heard of them (except when their name crops up on these Boards from time to time).

    By the posts i read from you, here in the Sensorium, i'm not surprised that you don't hear Nightwish on the radio stations you listen to. So, what's the point in discussing this? You don't like metal, hence you would never like Nightwish (no quite, but that's the problem with labelling music).
    Maybe you should consider not reply to posts that speak about something that you don't like or simply don't know. But, hey, it's my opinion! You could ignore it by keep replying to these kind of posts. Or not. Or whatever...

    Off-Topic: How are all of us SP'ers managing to get stuck on tropical islands, anyway?

    I guess I'd go with Iron Maiden, because no matter how old I get, I will always be a metalhead.

    I would go with Richard Wagner - he is my favourite composer and I like most of his operas.

    Laertis: Ever considered that they may just be good bands, with a style of music that appeals to various people? Some people like to listen to The Beatles, some people like to listen to After Forever, what of it?

    And really, who cares whether they're beautiful or not, we're listening to them. Beauty is irrelevant unless in reference to their voices.

    Now, stop hijacking the thread and annoying people :p

    @Laertis
    Then why are you talking about it? Since you clearly dont like these groups either. Also, since it is :yot: anyway, I hardly think you are in a position to criticise anyone to start. Now lighten up, and stop getting agressive with people.

    @Laertis : I see your point. I happen to like this kind of music but more and more bands like this are formed lately and well a lot of them sound so unoriginal. Still the bands you named are pretty good IMHO. Although Sirenia sounded way to much like Tristania...

    @Takara:
    I didn't say in any part of my post that i dislike the style (i even like After Forever and Epica a lot), i was only saying that there is a high number of bands of that style emerging using the sucess that Nightwish is having.

    And i don't think that i'm being agressive, at least that wasn't my intention. But i just considered annoying that Harbourboy was arguing about something that he, as he said many times, doesn't like at all. But who cares...this is off-topic after all.

    It'd probably have to be Bowie - a huge collection of music which covers a vast number of moods.

    Bad Religion, no question. Plenty of albums (with one exception, all good), plenty of songs, plenty of variation.

    Though, if I could cheat on the definition I'd go with Maynard Keenan for Perfect Circle and Tool.

    Well, my mind's finally made up after getting their new album for Christmas - it would HAVE to be Live for me. Great variety of styles between albums, lots of great songs for uplifting moments as well as those less-enjoyable moments. Brilliant stuff all-round IMHO.
