Diego was going around his usual duties when he heard the commotion above, and then the splash below. He quickly ran to one of the gun ports and looked out, he saw the big black figure swimming towards the devestation. He made his way quickly to the captains cabin, but stopped when he saw the Captain entering with Sol. Instead Diego made his way back down to the gun deck to finish his duties. Finishing up shortly, he deiceded to make his way back on deck, his curiosity piqued about the fleeing man. He made his way to Alexa's cabin, he was meaning to ask her if her explosives were compatible with the cannons, which would make a nice inclusion to the armoury. He stopped when he saw someone entering the cabin in the shadows and closing the door quietly.

"Hmm, i wonder who that could be? Must of been the Captain" Diego muttered to himself, until he saw the Captain walking towards the cabin, and knocking on the door.

"Sir, i just saw someone sneaking in there, i thought Alexa wanted some privacy? Or is there some sort of problem?"

Alexa gasped, feeling the blade draw some blood. "He has not. He is loyal to members of his crew, and he cares about what may happen to them."

She raised an eyebrow as she heard voices oustide the door. "I don't know who is there, it may be someone looking for my aid as a doctor."

Realising that she needed to stall for time, she steeled herself and glanced at him out of the corner of her eye. "Tell me. How did you manage to join this crew? Did you manage to convince the captain of your loyalty?"

 

"Ah, my Little Flame, you do not question me. Ever." Reeves' voice was deceptively calm and collected. "You know I have my ways of... persuasion."

he enjoyed seeing her flinch at his words. "Now, Little Flame, you are getting up and telling whomever it is that you are unavailable. If they question, blame your… delicate condition.” His features twisted into a dark sneer as he grabbed her roughly by the shoulder, drawing her closer. “Tell me, Little Flame, who dared to touch you? “

 

Alexa's eyes flashed. "So, you listened to a private conversation and discovered that I am with child. My... condition is because of you. You were the one who dared to touch me."

She twisted away, intending to flee. The covers twined around her legs, tripping her up and preventing her escape.

 

The girl had the audacity to try to get away! As his Little Flame tried to run, stumbling in her attempt; Reeves sprung after her with an angry snarl. As he caught her by the shoulder, she stumbled on the lone chair in the room, sending them both down.

Reeves sneered down at her as he pinned her beneath him; their faces mere inches apart. The feel of her struggling against him was magnificent; but she was really making far too much noise. His dagger, pressed against her throat again, was enough to make her silent again.

“Naughty, naughty,” he purred, “You know I must punish you for that, my Little Flame.”

Despite the calmness of his tone, he was reeling inside; her words about he source of her condition could not be true! None of the others he’d had, and there had been many, had conceived… he knew that for sure.

“You’re mine”, he hissed the words, and leaned down to claim her lips in a bruising kiss.

 

Hearing Diego's words, Arvin snarled. If the spy was in Alexa's cabin.... he'd have the maggot's head on a pike. Not waiting for a response, he charged the door, smashing it open, and bursting into the room. Looking in, he saw Alexa on the floor, with a man pinning her to the ground, and leaning down to kiss her.

His eyes misting over with a red fog, he didnt even realise he was drawing his pistol. He was acting through pure rage and instinct.

 

Sol, sick of waiting for the captain, had gone below with the two ex-marines. It would be better, he decided to clear the ship quickly. He swiftly moved through the crew's quarters, the stores, and even the powder stores swiftly, but to no avail. There was a sick feeling of dread in the pit of his stomach as he head for the stairs that led to the deck, believing that he may have left the captain alone with the spy.

As Arvin was about to smash down the door, he told Diego to down below and help Sol, and leave this matter to himself, and himself alone.

Reeves' head come up, his lips still bloody, as the door crashed in; as soon as he saw the captain go for his pistol, he threw the dagger in his hand.

"You dared to touch her!" He nearly howled as he sprang to his feet, looking around for another weapon since his dagger was now lodged in the captain's arm and the man was drawing a cutlass.

There! A pair of swords had been hung on the wall, no doubt something the previous occupant had left behind. He lunged to grasp one by the hilt, wrenching it free from the arrangement just in time to deflect the blow at his head.

“You will regret ever touching what is mine!” Reeves hissed as he parried another blow, his free hand reaching for one of his daggers still in their sheaths.

With an angry snarl, he charged forward to begin an offensive of his own, driving the captain back, through the remains of the door to the deck.

Not even thinking, he suddenly got dragged kicking and screaming back to reality, when a dagger plunged into his arm. With a gasp of pain, he dropped the pistol. Thankfully, he used his left arm for shooting, to keep his right free to wield his cutlass.

Gasping in pain, he pulled tha dagger from his arm, and drew his trusty cutlass. After attacking the man, and being forced back to the deck, they both stood outside. Arvin was panting, and blood was dripping from his left arm. However, he knew how to use his weapon, and was incensed to the point of ignoring pain.

"Yer might fine with a dagger, but this be me toy o' choice."

Spitting on the deck, he stepped forward, careful not to over-reach, and started to rain blows upon the smaller man.

Gasping with relief, Alexa hesitantly got to her feet, and slipped her dagger out of her boot. She walked over to the now non-existent door and watched the fight progress, not noticing the thin line of blood that snaked down her neck.

"I have never been yours, and I never will be!" She hissed at the man fighting with Arvin.

 

Reeves cursed silently as he defended against the captain’s onslaught; had he not indulged before going to visit his Little Flame, he’d fare better.

But still, he was good enough, with his jealous, possessive rage fueling him through the chemical languidness. This was the man who had tried to take what was his; he now knew.

His rage, battling against the chemical languidness, was making him sloppy; he realized this when he faltered long enough for Arvin to slam an elbow into his face, causing a bright flash of pain and making him taste blood.

Reeves stumbled back, loosing his grip of his dagger as he brought his hand up to feel his face, parrying the next blow with pure instinct. He kept parrying the blows, backing away from the eager captain, trying to gain his footing until he was backed against the railing. The captain lunged, locking their blades together.

Faces barely inches apart, Reeves sneered at the captain, hissing out an insult in his native Spanish. “You son of a poxed whore! ” His dark eyes flashed, the dilated pupils making them appear black as the deepest pits of hell. With the words, Reeves slammed his knee upwards, hitting the captain in the groin.

The captain’s eyes widened, and he let out a grunt, bending forward. Reeves used the opportunity to untangle their swords, bashing the other across the face with the hilt of his sword.

Arvin stumbled backwards, blood streaming from his nose and reeves felt a dark thrill of satisfaction at that. He was not sure if his nose was broken; his face still throbbed, but if Arvin had dared to disfigure him… he sneered, as the captain fell to one knee.

He stepped forward, sword raised to thrust.

 

Alexa swore as she saw Arvin fall to one knee. She couldn't just stand aside and do nothing. She felt the weight of her dagger, then threw it.

She watched as it hit the man in the shoulder, making him loose his balance.

 

A sudden stab of pain on his shoulder made Reeves falter; he looked at the direction where the knife - his knife! - had flown from...

His Little Flame had dared to go against him?

With a snarl, he tried to lunge towards her but his lack of balance combined with the fatigue and his intoxicated state made this an impossibility. High on the stolen medicine, the ringing in his ears still strong, the blood flowing freely from his arm; it all made him… weak.

"You da...." his angry words were cut off when the ship hit a wave, lurching; the effect was enough to send him stumbling against the railing - and over it.

 

Lark was about to open the door to Marius's cabin when he heard yelling from the Marauder and the Devastation alike. He walked quickly to the side of the boat, and looking out saw what was happening. A crowd had gathered on both boats, looking down to a figure in the water beside the Marauder. This time it was not Lark though. As soon as he saw the situation, he knew what was happening.

Reeves?

He started to run towards the small crowd of fellow crewmen, throwing his swords to the ground as he went. They would only weigh him down more.

Lark broke through the crowd, and the last thing he saw were a few men attempting to enter the water, capture Reeves. Then he fell into the icy water. He had to help. He had to try!
