Re: Einstein and IQ. Doing a Google search it appears that Einstein never took an IQ test. His IQ is estimated at between 140-180. It would also vary according to the scale used and of course the test.

 

Einstein probably never took an IQ test and all his estimated scores are just it, estimates. He also seems to have had a somewhat non-standard brain build and that could also account for some additional power working in a different way than the standard IQ.

@Rastor: In many fields, getting more and more courses and degrees is a matter of sitting through the classes and how much of school can you take before you have enough. Especially the difference between Bachelor's and Master's or Master's and PhD is often the choice between academic career and something else.

 

Chev, I am aware of that. That is why I said that degrees are not necessarily a sign of intelligence. I will say this from experience, however, generally people that choose to go on to Master's degrees are pretty intelligent. Since there are some factors that may make highly intelligent people not go on, I don't hold them as a telltale sign. You do not normally see people with below average intelligence enrolled in doctorate programs.

IQ is also not an effective sign of intelligence. Actually, it's more a sign of mental maturity than anything.

 

I am smart enough to know that no matter how much I learn or how much I am capable of learning, it is insignificant when compared to the total amount of available knowledge.

 

Mental Maturity ? In my view, there is no relation between maturity and intelligence. Intelligence is a problem solving and learn capability. Maturity is something else, something like being insightful, purposeful and not alcoholic. Very bright people can be very immature.

 

The formula for IQ: ((Mental Age / Physical Age) * 100). Sure looks like mental maturity to me. You are using a different definition of 'mature'.

 

I put average/worse/worse

I seem to get very lucky on IQ tests but am really as dumb as hell, only thing I've got going for me is that I'm reasonably okay with a fair bit of vocabulary and am comfortable with numbers but know very little really.

My low Wis is giving me a penalt to Int I think

 

To put it into a D&D wording I am Bard of sorts. I am knowledge in many things but master of none. Where does that place me on the Intelligence scale, just slightly above average. I don't boast about my accomplishments nor do I care to hear how others around me can spell better than I. I have to say I am one of the worst spellers that any one can meet but give me a computer application, numbers, a baby or a lady and I would look like a genius.
