    :confused: I thought I've eaten them before, but I'm not so sure after reading these posts. They are certainly deep fried, but isn't the main ingredient corn meal?

    The main ingrediant of Hush Puppies is cornmeal. A small amount of flour may be added to assist in binding the cornmeal. Salt, pepper, onions, eggs and anything else your stomach desires may now be added. To be Hush Puppys you have to deep fry.

    I did post in the cooking thread a recipe that was close to the original.

    Dough - a mixture that consists essentially of flour or meal and a liquid (as milk or water) and is stiff enough to knead or roll; something resembling dough especially in consistency.

    I've never tried them and probably would at least twice, but grits I've no idea what that is but it just sounds disgusting like 'chitlings'

    I like chitlings and hominy is hokay but I don't care for grits. Maybe spiced up a little it would be all right.
