WD40 + a lighter = Endless hours of fun

A bunch of bastard wasps had built a nest just outside the building, straight on my WINDOWFRAME. Grabbed the can of WD-40 and a lighter and burned the damn nest while behind the safety of a screen. It was fun to see them trying to sting me but always hitting the screen. Ahhh, those were the days.

Sounds more like a reason to call the fire brigade to salvage what is left of your house.

With three little girls around the house and yard, i don't see it as on option, they gotta go. As for WD40, it si fun, but only if you have a brick house. I like to use spray that shoots about 20 foot, about 6 1/2 meters for you so inclined. I'm not allergic but I don't like pain.

I've been corrupted by my girlfriend so everything gets released back into the wilds of our garden.
The one exception being mosquitos (though obviously not a major issue in the UK) which I'll hunt with a tea-cloth.

I believe wasp nests are very popular with fishermen - the grubs make excelent bait.

Kill, crush, maim, destroy. That goes for all insects and creeps. Better kill them now when we have the chanse (before they mutate, grow larger and take over the world)

I've found another yard-pest that's going to be banished. I planted 150 bulbs last fall, and the local rabbits have decimated 2/3 of them! I'll have no crocuses or tulips because all the shoots have been gnawed down to the ground.

Don't worry, I won't be making stew. For one, I'll plant some catnip to encourage the neighborhood cats to keep on hunting, and for two I'll be making a trip to the local garden center for rodent repellent.

@Rally - You sound like my mom when the baby bunnies were nibbling on her bulbs.

I only really worry about wasps when they build a nest on my house. My childhood bedroom had a yellow jacket nest glued to one of the lead-glass windows. Lucky for me, they were lethargic; probably from lead poisoning. :p

ell it really depends on *how* I noticed it. For bees I'd catch it and let it go, but I'd run and get someone else for the wasp. I have a bad experience of dealing with wasps when I was a toddler. :(
Oh, and as for cockroaches, I'll catch it if I can (if I saw it far away from me) or get the vaccuum cleaner. But if I just suddenly noticed it near me then I'll go "eek!" and run away. Then I'll get paranoid that there's something crawling all over the back of my neck. :(

Usually we ignore them as much as possible, but if we don't have that luxury, we terminate with extreme prejudice.

I used to ride the train with a woman who was phobic about insects of all kinds, to the point of being utterly paralyzed with fear when she knew there was a bug anywhere near her. One day there was a little fly on the train, and it landed on the wall near our seats. She started freaking out about it, and I just couldn't take it. I very calmly stood up and smacked the thing with the newspaper, then sat back down. She was utterly astonished that I could do such a thing! All I had really wanted to do was shut her up. ;)

I hardly ever see bees, but every summer a few wasps find their way in. They're very, very smart compared to, say, flies - they actually find their own way out if you have the window open and maybe assist them with a paper.

I don't like wasps much, they seem psychotic compared to bees. However, I don't like killing wasps. They're so die-hard that they keep twitching no matter how much you smack or crunch them. Killing a wasp almost inevitably means torturing them.

I prefer letting both bees and wasps out. I'll only kill them if I have to.

As I kid I not only killed them, I'd hook wires from my train set up their corpses and crank up the "juice" ala Dr. Frankstein. I loved to watch their legs wriggle from the electricity. It's alive! ALIVE!

Hey, what are those dudes in white coats doing at my front door? BRB...

Latest news + bug = news with a bug.

This to say I keep my house bug-free. I sometimes let spiders and bees out, though, as long as it isn't too bothersome.

I usually let bees out -the're usually complacent enough to be picked up with an oven mit or similar. As for wasps, I can't ever remember having one inside the house. In my english class a few weeks back there was a HUGE red one and our teacher told us to stop worrying about it and told us that it would fly off. At the end of the lesson it was still hovering around the ceiling and our teacher was the only one who wasn't vaguely concerned about it.

like 6 years ago when I was still in highschool, we had a similar situation where a hornet got in the class room, teacher told us to ignore it. Well we did and it eventually found it's way down my friends shirt and stung him a couple of times.

I'm also remembering my favorite anti-hornet device... my dog, she absolutely loves to eat the things, she doesn't bother with flys or dragonflys, but point her out a yellow jacket, hornet or wasp and she'll become solely focused on trying to kill the thing so long as it's in her sight.
