I use aMSN messenger - it connects to msn, but in my opinion its better

It started out as being just for linux, but now you can get it for windows and mac (i think) too

You can get it from amsn.sourceforge.net, but you might want to download a different skin, because I can't stand the default ones (the "msn" one is nice though)

I use MSN Messenger, AIM and Yahoo Messenger.

MSN Messenger is the best by far.

Who in the name of Gond still uses ICQ?

I also use gaim to connect to icq, though I don't think it's that good (I like the normal icq client for the free sms)

ICQ. I also have MSN (a previous work requirement) and AOL (for dialup, in case my cable crashes), but don't use either of them. ICQ seems to work fine for me.

Definately MSN. All the people I know use it and I'm used to all the emoticons and stuff by now so it's familiar to me :)

Pretty much anything but MSN. And Netmeeting. The main problem is that they are entirely too integrated with the operating system. Also, there's obviously no MSN port for Linux.

IRC appeals to me. Mostly because it's much more efficient than just about anything else out there. However, I can understand why a lot of people don't care for it. It doesn't use the nifty little graphical smilies. Although, there are a few clients which will convert them for you. Overall, I'd say IRC is my first pick, with everything else being secondary.

ICQ used to have some really bad security holes. Wicked kind of critical. I used to mess around with it, years ago, but got out of the habit.

Yahoo is ok. It's a pretty average "chat" program.

There's some webcam chat programs which are kind of neat. Eyechat is one of them. There's another that I have saved back, but have only used it once. I forget it's name.

ejsmith - download aMSN from amsn.sourceforge.net (though if your using the 2.6 kernel expect it to crash a couple of times a day (due to a tcl fault I think), but if your using 2.4 it shouldn't every crash, though you may get the occasional message saying there was an error, but it doesn't seem to affect aything). You can also use gaim and probably other stuff to connect to MSN, but I much prefer aMSN because its basically the normal MSN messenger (once you get the right skin), but with a few added features

Everyone I know uses MSN, so I do to - its no good having the best IM program in the world if you have no-one to talk to
