The Anglo-French assault upon Egypt, which began on 31 October 1956, provoked a furious response from the USA. President Eisenhower's condemnation of the attack triggered a sterling crisis which forced the government to withdraw from the venture. This angered the French, and further revealed Britain's growing dependence on the support of the US.

Wars in the Middle East are always about oil. That's what we learn in school. Only a nation that controls the Middle-East (direct or indirect) deserves to be called a superpower. All armies and all economies of the world are dependend on the oil that comes from the middle east.

Prime Minister Eden proved in the Suez Crisis, that the United Kingdom no longer was a superpower, because it wasn't longer able to influence or control the countries of the Middle East.

Eisenhower, on the other hand, was obiously able without the use of force to control the happenings in the Middle East.

George Bush Jr. is leader of an America, that isn't so powerfull, as it was as Eisenhower was President. Therefore, imperial hawks in the USA (imho a big mistake) see it as necessary, that America uses force to control the Middle-East, before the window of opportunity vanishes.

As the quote in my former post above states, the US-Goverment is very well aware of it's Oil-dependence (like any other nation is too). And this war is (the wrong) it's attempt, to secure the future flow of Oil.

To summarize the first article. Information is like sex and news channels are like prostitutes. From all the prostitutes in town, Fox-News is the best, because her endless "America, your so good, so big, so just and so beautiful, France and Germany are so small and the UN, forget it, Darling, nothing compares to you" offers the best sexual satisfaction for every proud american consumer. No wonder, she's the big opinion leader and gets lots of advertisments.

On the other hand, the best whore is not always the best guidance. :(
