    The familiar disappears when you import your character and you can then summon a new one.

    I know. What I was saying was that if the familiar dies or disappears in the middle of a game, then you lose the hp bonus. That should also happen when you start a new game without the familiar. If it doesn't, it is clearly a bug.

    Not so much a bug, I'd say, more of a limitation. Your familiar doesn't get saved with the character data so will not be there when you import your character. Same as your bags of holding, scroll boxes, gem bags and belts of ammo that will simply not be there once you import your character.

    Whether or not a F/M/T would be more powerful than a F/M depends on if you remove the XP cap or not. With the XP cap in place, you only get 8000000 XP, and when divided by 3 your FMT will never be able to cast 9th level spells. I think it comes to about what the SoA XP cap was without ToB installed.

    Lacking things like Timestop, Spell trap, Spellstrike, Wish, Improved Aclarity, and Summon [dark] Planatar can make a big difference in power depending on how you play.

    That may or may not be offset by the thief HLAs and the ability to spam backstabs using mislead (don't forget spell immunity:divination to protect from scripted true sight)
