Wow, so this is what it's like to have a day off. It's only been over 3 years since I took a day off excluding holidays of course. Yep 3 years. I guess I have been lazy about taking time off to be, well lazy. Ahh 3 years of work is no sweat though, I was 'vacation' for the first 18 years of my life.

 

Far away in the tropical waters of the Caribbean, two prawns were swimming around in the sea - one called Justin and the other called Christian. The prawns were constantly being harassed and threatened by sharks that patrolled the area.

Finally one day Justin said to Christian, "I'm bored and frustrated at being a prawn, I wish I was a shark, then I wouldn't have any worries about being eaten..."

As Justin had his mind firmly on becoming a predator, a mysterious cod appears and says, "Your wish is granted", and lo and behold, Justin turned into a shark. Horrified, Christian immediately swam away, afraid of being eaten by his old mate.

Time went on (as it invariably does...) and Justin found himself becoming bored and lonely as a shark. All his old mates simply swam away whenever he came close to them. Justin didn't realise that his new menacing appearance was the cause of his sad plight. While out swimming alone one day he sees the mysterious cod again and can't believe his luck. Justin figured that the fish could change him back into a prawn. He begs the cod to change him back so, lo and behold, he is turned back into a prawn.

With tears of joy in his tiny little eyes, Justin swam back to his friends and bought them all a cocktail.

Looking around the gathering at the reef he searched for his old pal. "Where's Christian?" he asked. "He's at home, distraught that his best friend changed sides to the enemy and became a shark", came the reply.

Eager to put things right again and end the mutual pain and torture, he set off to Christian's house. As he opened the coral gate the memories came flooding back. He banged on the door and shouted, "It's me, Justin, your old friend, come out and see me again." Christian replied "No way man, you'll eat me. You're a shark, the enemy and I'll not be tricked. "

Justin cried back "No, I'm not. That was the old me. I've changed."
"I've found Cod. I'm a prawn again Christian".

 

Isn't it funny how everyone takes posting in "all caps" offensive?

*WHY* is it offensive?

It's almost like a cultural translation. When you translate an insult in Italian to Russian, it just doesn't come across as offensive.

Or, like "Bloody" or "Shag". It's offensive in Britian, but much, much, much less so in America.

The only thing I can think of is that all caps doesn't let you show inflection or stress on words and phrases. So, it's offensive in the sense that it's so static, and against all the rules of punctuation and structure.

Don't get me wrong, it takes me by surprise too. And for whatever reason, I find it "loud" as well.

But I always stop and ask myself "WHY?".

 

I installed BG1 on my PC last night - and found out it does work - but badly.

My PC is nearly six years old and is pretty cool - but I try and play BG and it elaves scrag on the screen - like in word when it's saving if you move the office assistant around it elaves a trail it does that with the mouse.

I'm writing a story by hand - nobody can read it and it's six pages and I've hardly started it.

mauricio eiji: just to prove you wrong (and ruin a private joke in the process!) 'fasta' is a way of formatting files, specifically files made-up of genetic sequences (both nucleotide and protein). the file consists of a first line beginning with '>' then a description of the sequence (often just the name of the sequence, but sometimes the length/number of characters and what the relevance of the sequence). after the newline (carriage return) there is only the uninterrupted sequence (no spaces, tabs or newlines). this type of formatting (not just fasta) allows a concensus for file-manipulation programs to work upon, because the program will ignore the line beginning with '>' and analyse everything else.

WOOHOO my cash came today, although only half of it . Still treated myself to NWN finally, only been trying to get the money for it since it went gold .
And got Jack some really cool presents too . He now has a thing that goes over the keyboard and he can push the buttons and make the programs that came with it do stuff. He's been obsessed with keyboards and mice so much I even got him his own a while back lol. Oh and a huge garage with loads of cars that makes lots of sounds was another good one . Next another prezzie for me when i get the rest of the cash, new computer bits, this peice of junk needs them badly.

 

After looking for months and months, I finally found the soundtrack to the Nightmare Before Christmas. Yay! My own personal christmas present. Danny Elfman's voice forgives his actual looks....

The Universe is an expanding guitar shape, simply amazing, and that it is still expanding.

Regardless, im off to re-create the momentous occasion where I accidently cut the tip of my right thumb off when I was using the wire-cheese cutter. Epic stuff.

P.S: I hate Willy Wonka and everyone in the Oompa Loompa workers union....another thing, why isn't Union actually pronounced 'Onion' the word is said like "union" dont you think.

I'm happy Studying has brought me understanding of a problem I've been struggling with for a while, my flaming mood seemingly disappeared So up to my reward: IWD-2 and a shot of scotch - and no glimpse on the Alley of Dangerous Angles first!
