    The "/" root is the Unix equivalent of your Windows directory, aka C:/Windows

    As for partitions, you'll need one root partition (/) and one dedicated swap area. Fedora can work alongside XP with no problems, but if you plan on running a dual-boot and you somewhat get tired of Fedora, you'll need to delete GRUB (the boot loader which allows you to choose which OS you want to load) from the MBR (read: format).

    As for desktop environements, I personally prefer Xfce, but it's a matter of taste. I'm not too crazy about KDE, TBT.

    <I'm out of pepsi-rant>
    Why can't I find a gamer guy over the age of 35? Do they evaporate or something? :hmm: When a guy turns 40 all he seems to care for is how good you are at keeping his house and looking after his kids. :bang:
    Where do all the geeky guys go? :roll: Don't anybody want grownup gamer chicks? :bigeyes: I refuse having to hide all my games and learning how to cook just to find a boring guy my age... :p
    </I'm out of pepsi-rant>

    By the way, I found some coffee! :coffee2: Things feel better now! :thumb:

    I'm a little worried....last night my dad had to go to hospital cos of chest pains and stuff, and they think he has a blood clot in/around his lung, but they're not sure :( ...it was a bit scary at 2am, but I think he's going to be ok. It was weird cos he's usually really healthy, and very rarely ill...anyway, fingers cross he'll be home soon!

    In other news I have to buy a new monitor, I gained my first rank on Rainbow 6: Vegas Multiplayer, and I've started BG1 again as a cleric!

    I know lots of geeky girls...granted I don't know if 18-19 constitutes grown up, but they will continue to be geeky so will become grownup geeky gamer chicks :p

    Hmmm...I went to the doctor today about my bad knee. He on an anti-inflammatory drug, and then referred me to a orthopedic specialist if my knee doesn't improve in 30 days or so. :bad:

    My family has a history of bad joints...I hope I'm not starting now. :skeptic: :rolling:

    @Dave Sorry to hear about your dad! If he does have a blood clot in the lung it is usually quite treatable. Even healthy people can get these fairly easily, what usuaslly happens is they get an injury somewhere and when the body repairs it, it forms clots that occassionally break off and migrate to the lungs.

    @Kitrax, bad knees suck, my dad left me with them too. Hope the med works for you!

    I am off to bed for a few hours sleep before I go to work again.

    Dave the MT, best to your dad. Going to the hospital was a good move. The only people I know who've had similar problems and did poorly failed to get treatment early.

    Made it back from my trip down the Interstate of Doom yesterday. The insane drivers were somewhat less in evidence. And I survived a quite depressing meeting that I won't have to go to again till May.

    As for us elderly folk playing these great fantasy RPG computer games - well, I'm here, too, though Nakia outranks me by some years. :geezer: (Turn emoticon over so gray beard becomes gray hair.)

    :grin: That's the best thing I've read all day.

    I've got a measly amount of cash now...but one little concert ticket made a 64 euro dent on my budget.

    :hmm: Now, If only I could find high heels, suspenders and a bra.

    I'm bored. I've been at work all day and doing absolutely nothing for 90% of it... I REALLY can't wait to start my new job.

    Ah well, only 2 more weeks to go! :spin:
