All the data that we pulled from vBulletin onto the site pages (the news, latest threads, poll, who's online counter, etc.) should now have been successfully converted to XF, thanks to @catbert . If anyone still notices anything not working properly, please let me know!

I'm in my "any excuse is a good excuse" phase again. The project I'm working on is due today and it's a real struggle to try and get it done instead of doing literally anything else.

    Procrastination hell :flaming:
Reminds me that I have already been reminded twice by the Finanzamt (IRS? taxadministraion?) to declare my income for 2013. :coffee2:
The funny thing is that they threaten to demand interest for the amount I would have to pay when actually I always get a refund. Mmmh, perhaps I get charged negative interest and earn something from that :money:

If your government is like my government, tax interest is a one way street - their way. They hold your money interest free and if you overpaid, oh well, you're lucky to get what you overpaid back.

Indeed. I actually won an award for my procrastination habits, but I haven't managed to collect it yet. The committee assures me it's not going anywhere.

Yea, I'll be working on that soon. In the meantime, clear your cache or Ctrl+F5 wherever you see the old default whitish avatars. I've replaced them with better ones.

I did it again, used up all my data allotment watching hd movies on Amazon Prime. I had to wait for the reset on the 2nd to do much and to see the rest of what I was watching! Oh well I was enjoying my evening seeing some old shows while Puppy and I ate sausage and crackers. He is good at waiting to be offered something backing off after he takes what is handed to him. Quite polite.

I fill up my TV recorder with HD content in no time as well. That stuff really takes up a lot of space (and consequently bandwidth to transfer).

I almost never watch stuff in HD, aside from anime which I watch exclusively in 720p when available. Even with SD resolution, a high quality x264 encoding makes things perfectly watchable unless you're using a 65" plasma TV.

The real pain when recording the only external hd I can use is a self powered 1 or 2T drive. Cheep enough but getting hard to find. I have to disagree with Keneth. I can see the difference even between 1080i and 1080p. My moms tv when I bought it is only 62" and mine is I think a 56". I watch off the blue ray player if I can rather than sat which is 1080i.

Well, 55" plasma and non-HD content is nearly an insult to me... :heh:

The "i" and "p" stand for interlaced and progressive scan respectively. They have little to do with the picture quality, only the way that the image is displayed.

Also, I'm not saying you can't notice the difference between different resolutions. I'm just saying that when it comes to watching videos, 480p and 1080p shouldn't make all that much of a difference unless it's a bigass screen and you're sitting right in front of it. Kinda like you can play old games that don't support HD resolutions, and you can clearly tell the difference, but it stops bothering you pretty quickly if the game is any fun at all.

Oh, I can tell you that once you get used to full HD, watching anything below 720p is pretty much slumming it. :D At least on 55"+, I can say that from personal experience. And I'm watching it from a proper distance. It's not a big deal, of course, if you get into the show or movie you forget about it soon enough, but there's always a little nag at the back of your mind telling you "this would look better in HD".

I know the difference between interlaced and non interlaced. For slow thinkers like me interlaced traces every other line than fills in the others. noninterlaced traces all lines in one sweep and is much clearer to even fairly poor vision. Oh, my chair is 15' from the tv!
