^ I'm considering getting with my next cd purchases (so much music, so little money). As I certainly enjoyed Vs the World, would you recommend it?

I'm a huge fan of the second album, but I think Nola is better. Uncle Phil's vocals are obviously different because there's seven-odd years in between - making a Pantera comparison, his voice is less like Trendkill and more like Reinventing the Steel, plus he's singing more and screaming less. There's quite a few mellow songs, a southern vibe going on.

Kirk Windstein talked about having demos, but there's no release date yet. The Down page hasn't been updated in a while and the forums are a bit chaotic.

It was not impressive, lets put it that way. It sounds fine, but it is not exciting or anything. I think it was an attempt to basically turn back to old KSE (Alive or Just Breathing), but with Howard on vocals.

Hopefully the full CD is much better.

Well, I took WotW's recommendation and added Amon Amarth to my list of cds purchases. Ordered the following this morning:

Blind Guardian - A Twist In The Myth
    Savatage - Dead Winter Dead
Virgin Steele - The House Of Atreus I
    Ayreon - The Human Equation
Amon Amarth - With Oden On Our Side

Ayreon is the only one in that list I really like. I was quite surprised i would actually like anything of that genre. The Human Equation is Arjen Lucassen's best, IMO. I love the Teaser Trailer here in the left list.
"No barbarians. No castlehalls" etc. :D

What do you think so far?

Hmm... not Ripper Owens, I hope?

Nope, the Ripper is still around. There's been a drummer change- Bobby Jarzombek is out and Brent Smedley is back in (he played on AiA).

Additionally, Ernie Carletti is out already due to a 'personal situation'. I seem to recall reading something about rape, but nothing is confirmed on the band's website and I can no longer remember where I read that. The new guitarist is a UK player called Tim Mills.

    From the site:
Which is excellent news. At least Schaffer has realised that the spark has been missing these last few years. Going by the sounds of it, this new guitarist may just be the thing Iced Earth needed to sound fresh once more.

    It's pretty good

I wouldn't mind if Barlow would be his replacement :p

'Taker, which other MDB album could it be compared to? I'm a sucker for the first MDB albums...

Meh, of course Matt Barlow was a god... but Ripper Owens is pretty darn good too. I simply digged his work on Judas Priest's "Demolition".
