Robidolian explored the long tunnel and determined that it led outside, emerging on the side of the mountain. The party decided to further explore several areas they missed and returned to the Orog chambers to check out a door they missed.

Having found no traps and the door unlocked, Nimbul opened it up. The room beyond was lined with supplies, while 4 orogs sat cleaning their weapons, apparently oblivious to the party.

Nimbul and Knomal fired arrows while Gaspar charged into the room. All were met by an invisible barrier with Gaspar crashing headfirst into it. The Orogs now noticed the party, and moved to the northern end of the room to bypass the barrier. The party followed suit and the battle was on. Gaspar was the first to score a hit, killing an orog on his first swing. Nimbul managed to annoy another one with an arrow. Gaspar took a hit from on of the three remaining orogs whjile Nimbul dodged another. Iris then staggered the one chasing Nimbul with two Magic Missiles.

The next round found Gaspar killing another Orog While Nimbul finished off his attacker. The one remaining Orog managed to avoid death for a few rounds, but finally succumbed to an arrow fired by Nimbul and a critical hit scored by Knomal.

During the search of the room, Gaspar found a chest behind several sacks while Knomal found a pouch beneath one of the straw beds.

Robidolian and Nimbul determined the invisible barrier to be 40 feet long and 3 inches thick, stretching from the south wall to a point 20 feet from the north wall, parallel to the west wall, and 10 feet away from the west wall. It seems solid, just invisible.

Hmm... Pretty solid. Not very thick, though. Maybe some wizard created a wall of force and left it here. I don't think it's an illusion. It might be useful to remember if we have to run away from something. It surprized us!

I guess it's off to the other door. I know you like bashing them, Gaspar, but how about letting Nimbul check for traps...?

  3. "I doubt it's a trap. I think it's a spell. Anyways, shall we go?" Iris says as she examines the barrier.

Iris - I have two weapons I was wondering if you could identify. One is a shortsword, and this one...I found on the floor of this room.

Nimbul shows the nearly invisible weapon to Iris. What properties do they have?

  5. "Hm... Let me see..." Iris takes the weapons, and then starts some incantations.
"Well, for the first weapon, it's called the "Assasin's Talon +2(shortsword). It doubles your sneak attack bonus as well." Iris looks at the nearly invisible sword, examines it, and says, "This one is an invisible shortsword +1. The weilder will get an automatic suprise attack when attacking an opponent because he will think you are unarmed."

[IMG] OOC: Muwwaaahaahaahaaa!!!! The Assassin's Talon!!!

IC: Nimbul returns Assassin's Talon to its sheath and attaches it to his belt. Does anyone want the invisible blade? If not, Two shortswords are better than one... ;)

After investigating the “Invisible” wall, the party headed back through the storage cavern and into the Grand Stair chamber. Having already killed or captured all the stirges, they could now investigate the two doors in this chamber without fear of being attacked. Nimbul determined that a trap awaited them in the northern section of the chamber, triggered by opening the northern door. He was unable to deactivate it. He was able to determine that the trap was fire based, so Robidolian cast Endure Elements on Gaspar, who then proceeded to force the door open. Due to the spells effects and the fact that he was able to partially enter the next room, kept the damage to Gaspar to a minimum. The room held two large tanks and a lot of connecting tubing. A large counterweight was attached to the door through a series of ropes and pulleys. When the door was opened, the counterweight forced a bellows down. The bellows was attached to the two tanks which then emitted two reagents into the tubing. The two reagents would then mix and spew out from holes in the next room. The combined mixture formed Alchemist’s Fire. A chest found behind one of the two tanks contained 450 gp and 3 amethyst gemstones worth 300 gp each.

Robidolian wanted to drain the tanks of their remaining ingredients, so he and Nimbul returned to the storage cavern to retrieve two barrels. While they were gone, Gaspar and Knomal decided to investigate the southern door. Having heard nothing through the door, Gaspar and Knomal forced the door open, succeeding on the second try. As the door opened, Gaspar could feel the spells effects upon him, but it was too late. Gaspar had been put to sleep by a spell cast from a female Orc Shaman. Two more Orcs rushed out from the room. Knomal grabbed Gaspar’s great axe and killed the first to emerge. The other Orc to emerge returned the attack, causing minor damage to Knomal and a flask was tossed onto Gaspar, bursting into flame. Gaspar received little damage due to the lasting effects of the spell cast on him earlier. At this point, Iris, seeing the action at the other end of the chamber headed toward the battle while Robidolian and Nimbul had just returned with the two barrels. The fire burning around Gaspar was enough to awaken him. Nimbul moved toward the battle while Knomal tossed Gaspar back his axe and drew a dagger. Another flask hit Gaspar, but again the damage from the fire was minimal. Iris fired off with two Magic Missiles striking the Orc Shaman. The next blow was landed by Nimbul who stopped to fire an arrow at the one remaining Orc fighter, the Orc survived the arrow only to fall to Knomal’s dagger. At this point, Gaspar felt another wave of magical energy overcome him. Fear overtook him, and he fled to the far end of the chamber. Robidolian scored a critical with a crossbow bolt, staggering the Orc Shaman and it was finished off by two more Magic Missiles from Iris.

A quick search of the room produced a sack with 160 sp and two opals worth 50gp each. A search of the bodies produced two light maces and a wand of fear with 7 charges remaining. Nimbul had wandered back to the room containing the tanks and determined that there was only enough liquid in the tanks for 8 flasks, so they returned to the storage cavern and retrieved 8 flasks to put the liquid into. Wanting to rest, the party returned to the room with the “invisible” wall.

Each party member receives 300 experience points.

Robidolian - These components for alchemists' fire should come in handy. We can't risk combining them in this underground, though. The stuff would probably inginite in our faces! Still, I wish we had a way to use them now. I guess we'll just have to hit with one component and then the other if we need them.
