Yara-Shura would be a stronger candidate for victor simply because he would be so hard to kill, it took someone exploring his past and talking to others to take him down.

Melissan may be just the one to do that so it could be done..

Balthazar may have sent out one of his monks as he tried with one of the other five but I give such a monk lower odds.

If the 5 laid siege to Balthazar & his monks I'm not sure who would win-Balthazar would be more sane than Gromnir but at least the latter saw through Melissan.

Some of Saradush's defenders were perfectly sane and functional, but the monk would've fought better and been better prepared (w. their own army).

I think you guys are too quick to write off Sarevok.

Think about it- from a rather low level he was able to manipulate his way into the top of the Iron Throne, attract fanatical devotees, started a conspiracy that almost led two nations to war, developed his own unique Bhall powers, was smart enough to learn his history and supposed destiny, and, if he was successful without charname around, would have probably still had his own army to boot.

I think it would come down to Sarevok vs. Mellisan.

One thing I don't understand is why you couldn't just let Melissan take the throne? Someone has to right? Who cares if it's her or not? Unless you DO want it then the fight happens.

Sure, but not everyone was willing to surrender their Divine-Spark just like that.

You're all forgetting something very important:

Death to all who oppose Cyric!

I voted OTHER as Cyric is the current holder of Murder. If Murder is taken his former possessing it will most likely drive the new holder mad, leaving them exposed for him to immediately slay them and take it right back. Even if it doesn't drive them mad, he will still slay them and take it back for the simple reason that he can.

You don't see "Abdel Abner" or whatever his name was at the list of deities in the FR setting book, do you? :p

In other words it doesn't change a thing.

Which is kind of sad - I always liked the idea of a Good deity of Murder since it would likely mean a whole lot more vigilantism as opposed to sacrifice and robbery.

Actually, he isn't. The current holder of the murder domain is once again Bhaal, who was reborn in 1482 DR.

Note that events of BG saga occurred around 1370 DR iirc, so these events are unrelated as far as I know.

Yeah I meant current as in at the time of the game. I've given up on FR after 4ed, although the fact that 5 came out so quickly after suggests they learned something and I might give it a chance again.

I picked Balthazar not only because it would've been an ok ending but because the idea of him tricking everyone and winning made me grin a little.

In all honesty I don't think he has the best odds. He is somewhat aware of Melissan being untrustworthy, which is a plus (though that didn't save Gromnir.. though you not killing him may have.. ).

Melissan did a very crafty job of manipulation and made it pretty far. Though the point about Cyric intervening actually makes some sense. In an actual war between the 2 Cyric has slightly better odds-sure he is crazy but has more followers.

Unless someone disagrees I'd add an option of Bodhi & Irencius succeeding together. If one wins the other is likely to (they were allies).

Yaga-shura was invulnerable (required you to break) *and* had an army so both of those give him better odds than some of the others listed.
