[IMG] I am thinking when you're all done, you will have difficulty finding anything. How will you ever remember what criteria you used for any particular book?

Just put every book under M for Miscellaneous. That's what I do and never have any problems about finding the book I need.

Blackthorne, I'm mystified as to what you mean. Isn't it easier to find History books under "H" instead of, say, trying to remember the name of the author? Surely when you're looking for a book the subject matter is the one thing you are likely to remember (although the fiction books are filed by author's name- for some reason, fiction authors seem more memorable to me). What criteria do *you* use when shelving books? Colour?

[IMG] No, no, no, I was just teasing you both about your arguments over how to classify some of your books. How will you remember what you finally decided? ;)

[IMG] Oh, we won't necessarily remember - that way, it's like a little adventure everytime we go looking for something :)

And we haven't even begun to get into the sub-categories ;)

[IMG] The difference between religion and sex can be described in one overused word-CONFORMITY! Putting them next to each other is like smearing ketchup on a hamburger. They were meant for each other.

ah yes, librarys forget the dewey decimal system and go for th Kahib system... Given that I am living in a library atm (finals) it seems appropriate that the whole of my subject (Neurobiology taught by a man only verging on the side of sanity! [after edit - but we do love im really! :)]) should be filed under "unmanageable", "unreadable" or just "sopomorphic"...

the dewey decimal system always reminds me of 'to kill a mockingbird'.

hello -birds, i know this topic appears to have been resolved already, but how about:

romance (that'll ease the passage into sex- oops, unintended double entendre there)
    better still...
science (everyone has couple of science books lying around, though in my case too many)

how big are your bookshelves? (no need to be shy!)

Uh...at last count we were at 5 bookcases - not including the cooking books and collections of essays on food in the kitchen ;) Oh, but there's only 2 book cases of non-fiction.

Maybe we'll just turn it into a game for guests: "Where do you think these books should go." We do something like that with the dog already: "Guess what her parents were". She's part german sheppard and part dachshund :)
