Well, I'm 13, in the 8th grade, and taking algebra 2, all enriched core classes, and I get mainly A's (with ocasional B's). But as far as common sense goes, I have yet to figure that out completely.

 

There seems to be some sort of facination on alcohol among teenagers. I'm not just talking about boys either. Going to school and hearing of the exploits of friends and how they got absolutely smashed is hardly what i would call fun, and it is hardly intelligent behaviour. Why is it so hard for people between the ages of about 14 - 17 to just cool it for a second and think about what they are doing before going out and getting paro at some party? True, some might be 18 already and are more than welcome to go and get pissed at some pub or party, but it still is'nt the smartest thing to be doing. I know girls that have had real hard times trying to get some boozed up 16 year old off their backs at parties, and some that werent all that successful either. So no, a majority of teenage boys dont have brains. That is not to say that the girls Do, mind you. They are just as much to blame for having some drunk d**khead drooling over them because they have just gone through 6 bacardi breezers and a 4-pack of vodka cruisers. To put it blunty, any one who does this sort of thing is gonna end up dead or pregnant, and its going to be their fault. Their is the exception, such as the people who either dont care about or dont want to be connected with this sort of behaviour, but those seem to be few and far between.

Teenagers dont have brains, and that is pretty much that.

 

A minority stays away from the idiotic things called 'parties'.

Parties suck. They really do.

Being home and watching Daria or reading is much cooler. And you won't end up dead or pregnant(my worst fear) either.

Mom says that I am a mix of Wednesday and Daria. Kewl.

 

Depends which parties. Generally parties don't suck if there's no disco, dance or hip-hop playing.

And yes, lots of booze and roughly equal gender proportion. Heh, label me as you wish, I was the Dandy Foremost in my highschool. I was also the Supreme Geek in several subjects and the President of the only school's Club that managed to maintain independence from the headmaster while still remaining within the school (guess how that contributed to my Dandy Foremost reputation . So you're not going to call me a once dumb teen. As also the most renowned Goody-Two-Shoes and Stonewall Catholic I didn't really fit in the dickbrain stereotype - even though another badge of honour of mine was the Swifttalk Master, but that's nothing you want to know about .

So, this said and given as an example I protest against including parties and party fun in the black list of dickbrainness and teen dumbassness!

Another thing is that although those parties weren't exactly what good citizen bigots like to see , things like grass, drunk sex or drunk fights were less than welcome. Those who go for those three are exactly fitting the stereotype in question. Both genders.

 

Ahm, getting drunk and do stupid things. Isn't that what's beeing a teenager is all about ?

It was for me at least.

In my view, that's why they invented Carnival, Spain, the Munich-Octoberfest and Slyvester for. To continue it when you're 20.

 

It's May soon. May, mind you. Highschool last year students' classes end, uni ones are getting relaxed - politely said.... And spring, spring, spring... Sun shining, grass greening, birds singing, girls cheering and booze a-flowing!

After the exams in legal history and Roman law, of course...

 

Yes well the little drinking russians here in Finland who prefer to call themselves Finnish (I've nothing against Russians though) are what I is popular, accepted, normal and fantasized of is not necessarily what is right. Drinking was have to thank for realising that the thing that probably one of the greatest things that separated me from my friends as a kid, as I wouldn't go along with it (nerve-toxin for enjoyment? oh please..). Nowadays those "friends" are all dead, criminals or otherwise just plain losers. The few that grew apart from them when I did are the only ones whom I still have the honour of calling friends, and good persons, still today.

And yes, oh yes, everyone who gets involved in drinking or drug-using can and will accept every little bad thing that happens to them as their own responsibility. Wether it was a female who got raped because she went into a bar with scanty clothes and had too much to drink for thinking and acting clearly, or a drunk male who got beaten and incapacitated for life because of going to the wrong place at the wrong time and opening his mouth to the wrong person in a wrong way, makes no difference. It's their mistake. Think before you act, I say. If not, let's pray for the good ol' Darwinism to do it's job.

How much more this nation could be, if the cancer that is alcohol were not allowed here? Most people, including myself, don't even realise how much of the country's economy suffers from just one thing: alcohol. Especially in Finland the situation is grave indeed. But what are you going to do, when 90% of the populace refuse to let it go.

 

Eze you question the maturity and intelligence of boys by making this topic... but I must ask how mature are YOU in making this topic? From what I’ve seen you’re no more mature any teenage boy...

Hmmm. If I had any brains during my teen years, they were all geared towards video or computer gaming...ah, the good old days, when the most important thing that mattered was whether you could beat the latest high score or not.

Perhaps my anti-social adolescent years played an important part in giving me my current l337 (leet, sorry Tal.) gaming skills and for that I am grateful. Of course, my obsessive reading when not playing games kept me from socialising as well. I was, and still am, a geek, though not as big a geek as some others.

While Arkados ( you guys still remember him, right? He no longer comes here, though: his girlfriend takes up most of his time.) attended parties, made and broke relationships, I was forming my parties, making sure that there was at least a fighter, mage, thief and cleric in them and breaking controllers through overuse.


Anyway, Eze, you're still young, eh? Don't do stupid things that you might regret. Study hard. There's plenty of time for boys later.

...And games.

Why should the presence of brains or not be relevant in the first place? Just enjoy those years, boys and girls, while you're still full of life and energy.

I think most teenage boys try to act tough amd fight with their frieds and be rude to teahers, so they seem (and may possibly be) moronic.

From what I've seen in the girls school, they try for their education but aren't afraid to get lippy and hold a grudge, often the whole class makes a desision and we have a certain spokeperson and everyone shouts out in agreement, it is all entirely unspoken, I think it's true that women have a secret language

However there are a few that do not follow what we see as this strange and quite frankly disturbing system, the group have no name anymore and includes my friend Samot, my friend Alex, my friend Rosie, TeenyS and myself, Frosty may like to include herself in this, I do not know. To a few of us we are normal and everyone else is odd and we all act differently, a couple of us avoid social meetings like parties whenever possible as we don't often leave the house or anything. but we all try our best at school work, and I can say this, none of us, boy or girl is brainless, we are all 13-14 years old.

Where you are there may be a group like tis you think are 'weird' or 'nerds' or 'freaks' and you may taunt them, or you may be a member of the group and be taunted and teased. But just forget about it all. It isn't that teenagers are brainless or morons it's just that they only chose certain parts of their brain to work for them, half the time it's chosen for them and they have to live with it (like damn GCSEs)

 

They do. In fact their brains are quite expensive due to the fact that they're hardly used.

 

Well I'm a teenage boy. I'm pretty damn sure i have a brain.

As quite a few people have said in this i would like to add too, this topic would be more appropriately 'do teenagers have brains?' rather than 'picking' on boys or girls.

I'm 15 now, 2 years ago I'd probably have fitted into most of the 'bad' stereotypical teenager signs, the male ones. I got into fights very easily (though this was also to do with 3 years of bullying, physical and mental, that i went through at my primary school. That, unsurprisingly, left me with a short temper, a messed up mind, and a body that can take a beating pretty well) though i didn't start them. I was rude, acted 'hard'. This lasted for about a year.

Then i actually looked at myself and realised i was just like any other 'hard' kid. I stopped with the fighting and got back with some different friends, one who had been my friends before i started acting 'hard'. The difference now is that

1. I'm friends with most people, those before being 'hard', during, and after.
2. I'm still considered 'hard' (though i haven't been in a fight for over a year). This is good because it saves a lot of bother.
3. While in my 'hard' period (and a little before) i went through a period of self harming. Not good. I haven't, purposefully, hurt myself in over a year and a half. I have wanted to, but i haven't.

Now in this period i have a newer set of friends, though still being friends with those who i used to be as well. Through this new set of friends i met my girlfriend, who I've been with for 1 year, 1 month, and 12 days

I got to parties, yes. I do drink alcohol. However i don't get pissed, purposefully (i have seen my mum vomiting far too much to want to get hungover when i have a choice). Nor do i do any drugs. Nor do i smoke.

I know people who do get pissed (regularly), do drugs (regularly), and do smoke (regularly). Some of them i get along with, others i just ignore. I don't mind if that's what they want to do, i would mind if they tried to make me, but the general feeling is that if someone doesn't want to then don't make them.

However there are some people who, even though i tend to keep to myself and ignore most things (i can control my temper now), really annoy me:

1. Cocky, arrogant, B*s***ds!
2. People who lead others on.
3. People who are in relationships purely for the physical pleasures, while the other person thinks it is more than that.
4. People who use other people (i mean frequently and to serious extents, since, in one way or another, everyone uses someone)
5. Someone who, in class, is just being a pain, to the teacher, and get's the whole class in trouble.

I think that's all for now.

 

I work with a couple of teenagers( to my disgust) and all they can talk about is girls, cars and XBox and then ask me when I will be buying one, HA!, as for brains hmmmm... need I say more?

Eze I don't care how long you've been on the board... it doesn't matter to me i mean so what you been on the board for awhile big deal. And why should I ask someone else? i see no point in that. and as for your moronic and dorky chopping me in half with a lightsaber over the net thing... all I have to say to that is COME ON that is the lamest thing I’ve seen since Bill Clinton was in office...

 

Heh. I've been here 20 or so months, so let me chime in again.

I really thought Eze wasn't being very serious with the whole boys thing. Now I'm seriously beginning to question it. I just wish people would just not get so worked up over it. Some people are silly. Some aren't. And all living people have brains. Sheesh.

And on Eze's intelligence, well, I'll say that she seems like a quite intelligence person when you consider her negativity, fanaticismm and excitement over slash.

 

I never said Eze was dumb... I just asked how mature she thinks she is by making a topic that she knows will get people mad and turn into a fight.
