Hello all. I'm Hawke. I'm just a lowly, silent-type gamer from the UK who plays anything and everything from RTS' to FPS', and RPG's to JRPG's. Heck I play anything and everything to be honest. I'm 20 years of age & am kinda shy when you first meet mehhh... But I'll warm up to ya in time!

I mainly came to Sorcerors.net in search of answers regarding NWN1's master server, as I couldn't connect and as much as I am smart enough to predict that perhaps it's been shut down since Neverwinter skyrocketed and NWN2 got more attention, I sorta wanted to confirm that thought. If the servers are still operating, then well, I'll be bloomin' trying to find out why I can't axe-flippin' get on them.

    Anyhoo uhh... yeah. SUP. Kbye.

Aww... Real bummer. I already knew they'd been taken down as I had attempted to get online on NWN1 on three different PCs, all with outstanding internet connection, but I guess I had sorta hoped I'd read somewhere that a file was required or an update or patch or whatnot.

Ah well... Guess the MMO variant of NW is all that remains for me.

It might still be worth looking into private servers, since those used to be a thing for NWN - you might find one or two that are still running all these years later.

    Hi fellow adventurers

Lets see what to say: some of my favorite crpgs are BG, BG2, and IWD. I play a few mmorpg when time permits. With the new BGEE series that I just found out about recently I bought the entire series and now I can play on a modern OS instead of breaking the xp system.

It's a sin that Ps:T isn't the first on that list, but I'll do my best to look past that. :p

    Welcome.

Welcome, i hope you enjoy your stay here.
like kenneth said, Planescape Torment should be on that list, but sadly there's no enhanced edition available for it.

since you're new to the enhanced editions, one thing to keep in ind is that mods that worked on the original games might not work on the enhanced editions.
you can find an up-to-date mod list for the enhanced editions here : https://forums.beamdog.com/discussion/34882/list-bg2-ee-mod-list-additions/p1

the mods i reccomend using are the tweaks anthology, unfinished business, an exp cap remover and the ascension mod for throne of bhaal.

Hello, my name is Vasiliy (Russian version) or Basil (English version which I kinda like), I'm from Russia, I play different types of game, maybe all except for sports simulators. I'm kind of beginner in CRPGs and others old RPGs, I found out about this community of yours while playing Planescape: Torment and I found it really useful, and since I'm planning to continue exploring CRPG genre after I finish PS:T, I've decided that I should join you all.

I'm not really active on different forums because I don't really know, it's seems like there's nothing that I could add to any discussion because it seems like people on these forums know much more than me.

Just because others may be more knowledgeable doesn't mean you don't have anything of value to say. If that were the case no one would ever talk to me. :shake:

Welcome to the forums, enjoy your stay.
While i personally think that planescape : torment is definitely the best infinity engine game out there, you should totally give the baldur's gate and icewind dale series a try too.
Since there is a ton of overlap in the way the games work and even some of the lore, you should enjoy them as well.

Yeah, I've already bought these on Steam (BG:EE) and GOG sales (IWD 1 and 2), but I'm not sure now what to do about BG:EE since I've only recently read tons of these negative reviews about how many bugs there are, and how silly the graphics are, and something about something being removed and so on

With v2.3 you can now make the graphics look pretty much the same as they've always been (turn off all the dumb features like character outlines and switch back to nearest neighbor scaling). There hasn't been any content removed apart from some entirely unnecessary movies and the major bugs that came with 2.x have been mostly dealt with, so it's no more buggy than any other version of the game. The only downside is some stupid designs in the user interface, but IE has always had plenty of those, so whatever.

I cannot recommend the expansion though, at least not at the current price and the state it's in. Not sure how much that amounts to for the Russian market however.

well, we're there having some sort of crisis because of the actions of our "beloved" government which caused these sanctions which caused the value of ruble drop. it used to be 1$=25-30 rubles, now it's 1$=65-69. And 4-5 months ago it used to be 85-89

but let's not talk about this

Are there any modifications that can change the game back to it's original state?

well, you know, what this game used to be like.
I might say sometimes some things that might sound weird, 'cause, you know, English isn't my mother tongue and I have not practiced it for quite some time

Like I said, define "original state". If you mean get the old GUI back, then no. Everything else is pretty much the same and/or better than it used to be though.
