    I'll spoiler this for people who haven't read 723 yet:

    I thought it might be Elan's dad from the helmet -- I remembered that helmet was used when Nale described how he was brought up by a Lawful Evil General (strip 50, though it looked different there) But of course, that helmet, like so many other items drawn by Burlew, has been used several times in other locales!

    I lol'd as well.

    I don't know what all of you think, but I hope the little guy doesn't get killed off too soon. In my opinion he's one of the funniest things in the comic. ^_^ (Might be because he's my favorite character, but I'm okay with that bias.)

    Elan has experienced some character growth, but his stunning naivete is something that one would think would be whittled away by his experiences. It's like one friend of mine said about Thomas Covenant*, "that idiot never learns a damn thing!"

    In D&D terms, though, if Elan constantly puts his ability points at every 4 levels into Charisma, he's going to remain an idiot. Some points into either Intelligence or Wisdom would be helpful (though, really, going up from 8 to 9, what's the frigging difference unless you're talking STR and carrying capacity?)

    * For the record, I never finished the first set of chronicles, let alone the second. The guy was just a colossal douche and I never found the story engaging.
