In no particular order, and bearing in mind that I never got around to playing Planescape: Torment...

    Star Control 2

This game was an instant classic; even years later, it's still fun to play. The combination of Storyline and Melee made it more re-playable, as the relatively linear story arc was a bit tedious after a while. With that many "side-quests", great dialogue and the fantastic plot (especially the start - the Ilwrath battle was somewhat frightening the first time), it's stood the test of time.

    Baldur's Gate (series)

What can I say that hasn't been said already?

    Mario Kart

Anyone who's played this knows how much addictive fun it is. I always opted for Wario, 'cos he's an evil little bastard who laughs derisively when he hits people with shells, bananas or other weapons of minimal destruction. Strictly a multiplayer game.

    Fallout (RPG series)

The original Fallout was the one that started it all, for me. This was the first modern RPG I ever played, and it was great. You could do what you wanted, kill what you wanted, specialise in what you wanted. Fantastic game, followed by another great one in Fallout 2.

    Master Of Magic

I really, really wish that someone would make an updated version of this game. To put it in basic terms, for those who haven't played it: it's like Master Of Orion 2, only in a medieval setting, with planar travel, and mixing in different schools of magic, races, racial traits and magical resources. You could go all-out for magic power, or add wizard traits and characteristics to your servant race. It was freakin' awesome, and it's a shame I can't find it anywhere (although my g/f is probably very happy about that).

    Honourable mentions:

    - Knights Of The Old Republic series (PC)

    - Grand Theft Auto 3 (various)

    - Freedom Force (PC)

    - Super Mario World (N64)

    - WWE No Mercy (N64) - if only for the "ding" sound effect when a low blow connects.

    - The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time (N64)

    - The Curse Of Monkey Island (PC) - singing pirates rule.

    1. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - Classic, I remember it being the first game I ever played on my new N64. This game started my 'long-nights-spent-playing-games' addiction.

    2. Doom 1+2 - No words to describe these great games.

    3. Fallout 1+2+BoS - I remember spending nights on Gamespy Arcade playing Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel online crafting my skills, those were the days.

    4. Myst - Great game, I remember being stunned at the graphics.

    5. Baldur's Gate Series - I'd be a fool not to mention BG Series!

I'm sure there are many others I forgot, like Starcraft (Hon. mention).

Hmmm... hmm... hmmm.... Hard. Very hard question. 5 top games... Well, here we go, although I'm almost certain that I've forgotten atleast another 5.

Civilization - no game has ever given me more enjoyment, and over such a long period of time, as the original civilization did. I loved this game and still do! Much better than those more modern civs where they've way over done the complexity :p

Neverwinter Nights - can't beat this one for online roleplaying! It's one of these games that seems to drain time away without you noticing.

    Baldur's Gate series - need I comment?

Ceasar II - A great stratagy, city building game. Unforuntatly havne't played any others in the series.

Other Civilizations - Although not as good as the first, they're all wonderful!

Age of Empires Series - Another great stratagy game, although to be perfectly honest this doesn't quite match up to the others listed above. Just never liked RTS games, although AoE still manages to be excellent dispite this fact.

Ultima Series - The few I've played, I've really loved!

Krondor Games - My first real introduction into RP-style games, so this has to go down there. I still love those little puzzle boxes! :D

[Edit] Hmmm... a few more than 5

Wow! No one mentioned my all-time favorite game:

    1) X-Com: UFO Defense (with honorable mention to X-Com: Terror from the Deep - better/harder battles with tougher aliens)

    2) Baldur's Gate - the only BG/IWD game I've ever finished, I'm sad to say. (The entire BG series is pretty awesome though, maybe I'll finish someday...)

    3) IWD (all of them)

    4) Tie Fighter

    5) Wing Commander (Only played 1-2, and Privateer, but I loved them!!)

    Honorable mentions:

Didn't make my list, but they're still good:

Temple of Elemental Evil (Despite it's glitchiness, I loved this game once Circle of 8 patched it!!!)

    NWN (only multiplayer online though)

TSE: Daggerfall (Custom spells and classes was cool! The game was a bit repetitive though)

    Baldurs Gate series
Icewind Dale 2 (Love the 3E rules)
Heroes of Might and Magic 3 (Especially with Wake of Gods mod... adds soo many nifty features)
Fallout series (If only a fallout game was made with BoS playing style and Fallout 2 story, now that would be amazing)
Starcraft (Tied with Age of Empires 2 and C&C Generals: Zero Hour (Just because of how the game makes me feel like im in the middle of it all))

    Honorable mention is Total Annihilation...

    And for Console:
Chrono Trigger (Finished this a dozen or more times)
    Jade Empire (just amazing)
Final Fantasy Tactics (I played it way too much... got a little unhealthy)
Shadow Run for SNES, I lov this game
Tales of Symphonia (The battle system rocks and the story is so captivating)

Honorable mention is Spartan: Total Warrior
