Too Fat to Graduate?

    What I think some people forget (or perhaps don't care about) is that people pay for college. College is bloody expensive, even a three year course can have you in debt for years to come. So I find it beyond belief that institutions which take so much of your money would put extra frivolous conditions on your requirement to graduate.

    Someone mentioned being required to know how to swim, which I find absurd. If you're training to be a lifesafer or serve in the navy, than obviously you should know how to swim, that impacts on your competency to practice the profession you are training for. But to impose similar standards on a science stupid is paternalistic and controlling.

    If the education was provided for free then I wouldn't mind jumping through a few hoops. However, if I'm paying 50 grand for a college course, get ****ed with trying to impose extra classes (which translates into extra time and money) on me that have no bearing whatsoever on my competency to practice my profession. Any tertiary institution that takes my money and then tries to tell me how to live can go and get ****ed, there are already way too many restrictions put in place by a bureaucratic nanny government.

    I would imagine that most in the navy never hope they will be required to swim when practicing their profession.

    I never wanted to test my swimming skills 3,000 miles from shore. The ability to float is far more practical.
