    Yep, nice game. :)

I'm not playing anything at the moment, but thinking of starting a fresh game of NWN2, since I just downloaded MoW. Now I have all four parts, but no saves, since I rebuilt the computer and installed Win 7. Win 7 - with its 150 updates since October. MS must be trying to set a record.

Really? I tried starting The Witcher but couldn't really get into it. I may give it another chance.

I'm pretty much in the last quarter of my 2nd playthrough of Dragon Age: Orgins. Was a human warrior first time and an elven mage this time around. Finding the mage a lot easier to play. But the orgin story of the mage is kind of weak. I liked the fact that the human noble orgin story was pretty deeply connected to the main storyline.

I made a total impulse buy on Monday night. I purchased and am just beginning to play Mass Effect 2 for the PC.

First impression after about an hour of gameplay is that it appears to be another well made Bioware game (which is no less than I expected), but damn, does it feel like a console game. Not being a big fan of console games, this is a real negative for me. I mean, I'm on a PC, and the potential for much greater depth and control is all at my fingertips... yet it's not available to me.

The jury is still out as to whether I'll really end up getting into this one. So far, I've had 2 30 minute sessions which ended with me quitting to do something else.

You'll enjoy it. Mass Effect 2 is cool. The atmosphere is far darker than in the previous part. Gameplay is nice, story is nice.

Well, you were right. I'm totally hooked to ME2 now.

I haven't played the original ME yet.

With my character having reached chapter III by now, and iirc level 28, I have grown rather fond of the Witcher. Really nice, and a lot of fun. Fighting is nice, the difficulty is manageable. Cool story and nice and fun quests, even though there, probably inevitably, is some Fedex-ing. Geralt is a quite a unique character :D

Visuals are quite nice. The city for instance is very nice, and compares favourably to NWN-2. Doesn't quite reach Drakensang, but still, very nice.

I have also decided what comes next after Witcher: First Bioshock and then the Drakensang sequel.

I went ahead and dropped $20.00 USD to get ALL of the available DLC for ME2. That was a total of 5 additions, 2 with new gameplay content, 3 with new gear. I wouldn't have done this if I wasn't REALLY into the game. So yeah, this one truly something special.

I've officially put Mass Effect 2 on the back burner for the time being. All side quests are completed, and it's time to go for the IFF quest. But due to some PC issues (fried video card) and an extra heavy work week, I had to wait on the game.

Now that the PC is up and running again, I actually decided to dust off Diablo 2 after several years of not playing. I'm running through single player with my favorite class, the necro. The graphics are worse than I remember them being, but I'm past that now and quite enjoying the hack and slash action.

I have just finished The Witcher. What to say: This game is a gem.

Great and clever story, great atmosphere, great choices, nice gameplay, nice character development. I think I will replay it in some time. Highly recommended.

I have a number of nice options for what to do next - either I
    (a) play some of the DLC (official, fan made) for Dragon Age next or
    (b) I buy a compilation of 4 Star wars themed games (Jedi Academy I/II, Knights of the Old Republic I/II in english), or
    (c) buy and play Risen, or
    (d) buy and play Drakensang 2 or
    (e) the add on to Drakensang 1.

Starcraft II: writing is mediocre, gameplay is excellent. Also, multiplayer bliss. Best matchmaking ever? Best matchmaking ever.
A rough gem. First I stalled for ages on that goat****ing beast at the end of chapter 1 as I was not going to backtrack to pick up the oil coating, and the critter was impossible to kill without it. So then someone pointed me to a savegame editor, and all was well. Started working my way through the city, and the first quest I tackle bugs out and won't let me complete it.

Man. I want to love the game, but I'm not sure it wants to be loved.

The Witcher ran like charm with me; I iirc had one crash with that game, and I encountered no quest bugs. The latest patch (iirc 1.5) even removes the DRM software. Maybe worth a retry?

On an overall scale - what would be more fun, Bioshock or Fallout 3? Who has played both?

Depends on what you are interested in. BioShock is a FPS with some interesting additions like a "pipes" game for hacking cameras, vending machines etc. It has a good atmosphere and the duality of weapons/ammo vs. plasmids/eve is interesting. I've played Bioshock, but haven't finished it; haven't played Fallout 3.

I haven't played Bioshock (but heard good things about it) and I'm not deep enough into Fallout 3 to judge (but so far I like what I'm seeing).

But Fallout 3 is FPS-ish as well, right?

I'm guessing it is a hybrid between FPS and RPG (similar to Dragon Age) as there is character generation and allocation of skills. Teen Snook told me that there are recruitable NPCs, but I'm not 100% sure we have the same definition of NPCs.

    Oh, it is. Just...not now.

Bioshock is System Shock 2. Well, a significantly more polished, slightly more accessible System Shock 2.

Fallout 3 is The Elder Scrolls with guns. Except I like it a hell of a lot more than I ever did Daggerfall, Morrowind, or Oblivion.

My advice? If you've not played SS2, go with Bioshock. If you have, it can wait, go with Fallout. If play time is an issue--that is, if you want to maximize the time you get out of your gaming budget--then Fallout is the way to go as well.
