Going through Prey at the moment. Lots of neat ideas - portals, walk-on-walls, flying spaceships, Spirit Walk, and so on. It's hands down the best game that uses the Doom 3 engine. It still suffers from "follow the yellow line" syndrome that just about all the 2000s FPSs have, but that's my only complaint with it. The Sphere is beautiful, in a creepy sort of way, and that gives the game a unique atmosphere. For some reason it also runs better than Doom 3 did on my system. :)

Playing BG1 using EasyTutu. Just reached Chapter 6 last night when I really should have gone to bed.

Berserkers in BG1 are so powerful they're not even funny.

You should then play Dreamfall. Great game; unfortunately they added a combat element to it. Good thing it's use is very rare.

Yeah, I'll pick up Dreamfall when I see it on ebay for cheap. Probably not until well after Christmas though, seeing that I'll be getting both Geneforge 4 and The Witcher.
... but combat? That sounds like a pretty bad idea. One of the things I enjoyed about The Longest Journey was that there was no chance of reload-forcing failure. Having combat means the chance of losing, and unless there's some fancy design around that - bleh.

... not to mention that combat doesn't suit the tone of the game in the slightest.
Oh well, guess I'll just see when I get around to playing it.

I just finished Zelda: The Twilight Princess. On the Cube, no less. We won't be getting any next-gen systems until next year :o
It was a really cute little game, though it reminded me rather forcefully of Okami, which made me think of how wonderful Okami was, which reminded me that Clover has disbanded... which made me cry. Poor, poor Clover.
Now I haven't anything to play, as I'm waiting for the opportunity to get Mass Effect (which means I need a 360.... I would like to point out that I would crawl, on my belly, through gravel, for the chance to play Mass Effect at this point). I may run through Fallout again.

Yeah; it's pretty much melee combat in maybe a half dozen places. Not too bad really, and there's a place you can practice at the beginning. The combat is fairly lame and generally easy. You can avoid most of the combat by other means too. The worst part for me was a certain place where you have to solve puzzles in a mazelike set of tunnels while hiding from the wandering monsters.

You can die in Dreamfall unlike The Longest Journey, but you can save at any time, so it's not too bad; just annoying for an adventure game (IMO).

The interesting thing is you play as three different people in different parts of the story.

I'm currently going through Vampire the Masquerade: Redemption. Quite a nice game despite all the glitches; I played it once but it crashed during cutscene before the Cathedral of Flesh. There are some nice moments in the dialogue, as well, particularly in the Pink and Dev/Null conversations.

Now <cracks knuckles> let's get me some Nossies. The NY Sabbat's got some natural selection coming its way :D

@Blackthorne: those two sound quite good. The different people in different plot arcs thing reminds me of Sanitarium... I may need to get that, too. Damn weird game.

Just started playing Guild Wars since the Monday...so its been 4 days so far. Wow! This is SUCH an awesome game! I haven't played WoW so I can't compare, but you just cant beat the no monthly fees!! And the community is pretty great with lots of helpful players...and the PvE is bloody hard!! Which is just the way I like it! Really enjoying it as of now...anyone else play GW here?

Well, that's that for VtM:R. The Wall of Memories was quite impressive (our nun seems to have pulled a Revan's Gambit) but the final fight was a little... underwhelming. If you want to enjoy a tough fight, people, do not use ice prison: It's near broken for many v 1 fights. The biggest problem I had with the last fight is that I'd equipped 2 of my coterie members with bazookas, and they nearly ripped apart those who went in to melee.

(I was writing a massive post, but accidentally clicked something and when I came back the text was gone. But basically: )

I finished my idol Ben 'Yathzee' Croshaw's 'John DeFoe quadrilogy'. Intense and scary games for such old grapichs, Yahtzee really knows how to make the atmosphere.
I recommend them for anyone who isn't scared of wetting their pants with something else than tea.

Additionally, The Arrogant Man and Trilby are instant classic characters. Seriously good work from one man.

I'm still playing Zelda (cube). I did lose all interest for like half a year but picked it up again a few weeks ago. I'm near the end dungeon, and in a month it should be finished (given a few more playing hours). Unlike OoT I don't really intent on 100%-ing the game, as I have better alternatives to spend my time on. Fun playthrough though.

I'm also eager to play Mass Effect, but I don't want to pay 50€ yet. :) I'll soon play through FFXII since I bought it cheaply (20€, its price currently) but haven't touched it yet. I learned my lesson from playing RPG's and quitting them in the middle. Baten Kaitos and Morrowind come to mind... I quit them and never picked them up. Ok I tried to, but I wasn't into the story anymore and I failed to know where to go. :p

So the lesson is...never play RPG's... well with a timespan between the periods that is. :D

I finally decided to play Daikatana, after having the copy I purchased sit and gather dust for almost 8 years. The game was far too slow on the PC I had at the time (Pentium 2 with no graphic acceleration) and after reading the reviews I never wanted to actually play it, until now. I'm actually surprised it got so many negative comments. Don't get me wrong, it's far from being a great game, but I've played far worse. I'd put it at "average". It's got some cool ideas, some that work well (seperate experience for the character and for the Daikatana, both of which can gain levels) and some that were poorly implemented (the sidekicks). Some of the levels are beautifully designed, especially after the first episode. I suppose the game would not have been so badly dissed if it weren't for the crazy amount of hype that surrounded it.

Civ IV. When I first got this I loved it. Then my PC's motherboard (which had an onboard graphics chip) blew and I had to have a new motherboard and graphics card. Unfortunately Civ wouldn't work with the new graphics card so I didn't play it for 2 years...but just before Christmas, that graphics card died and I had to replace it. (To be honest, the only original part of my PC is the hard drive!)
Well, every cloud has a silver lining and I decided to try Civ again and hey, it works, so I haven't been getting much sleep. Oops. :p

Civ IV: Beyond the Sword has drawn me in with renewed determination, and this time more promising results...
