CAVES BENEATH CANDLEKEEP

Prat

As soon as I arrive there will be a few of Sarevok's henchmen to the south, led by Prat. I had Kivan and Imoen switch over to Arrows and Bolts of Biting, just in case.

The fight is won rather easily by Imoen getting the jump on them with Web and then Stinking Cloud. She further softens them up with Greater Malison. She and Avastrian then blow them away with repeated blasts from their Wands of Fire.

One of the henchmen leaves behind a Throwing Axe +2 (always returns to its user's hand), which becomes Khalid's missile weapon for the rest of the game.

Spiders beneath Candlekeep

Now I begin exploring the caves, with Imoen carefully searching for and disarming Web traps along the way. The party also dispatches several Spiders in what by now should be pretty routine fights.

Diarmid

The southern portion of the caves will have a pair of Greater Basilisks. Avastrian naturally casts Protection from Petrification on everyone. The party then wades in and kills off the lizards.

The party continues west, and runs into Prat's rendezvous, Diarmid. No matter what you say, Diarmid will flee once he realizes who my protagonist actually is.

Now it's on to the final chapter.
