THE BROTHEL OF SLATING INTELLECTUAL LUSTS
A brothel – where there is no intercourse? Yep, that's right, cutter! This establishment does not cater to the simple carnal urges, but rather to the intellectual needs. As the proprietress, Fall-From-Grace, will tell you. Grace, by the way, is a joinable NPC, as will be described below. As a member of the Society of Sensation Grace has established the brothel partly as a training place for young Sensates, partly to stimulate the minds of the patrons.
If you think this sounds dull, which Morte certainly does, rest assured. You will find plenty of (non-carnal) entertainment and quests in this place. You will also find the key to the portal to Ravel Puzzlewell's maze.
The brothel contains one sub-area, the Cellar, which is described at the bottom of the page. It is of little interest to you.

Exploring the Brothel
At 1 is the exit to Clerk's Ward.
At 2 you will find Fall-From-Grace, the owner of the Brothel. Talk to her and explore all conversation options. You will learn that Grace is a Succubus, a creature of the Abyss who normally seduce mortal men to their doom, but that she finds such an existence unfulfilling and has decided instead to devote her life to teaching young Sensates.
Grace has useful information on Ravel, mazes, the Gray Waste (the plane where Ravel comes from), and a number of other topics. If you ask for help in regaining your memories, she can't help you but of course suggests that you should tour the brothel and speak to the young ladies.
Finally, you can ask Grace if she would like to join you on your travels. Annah won't be happy about this but her reservations can be ignored – for now, at least. Grace promises to join you if you will first speak to her ten students and then return to let her know what you think.
The trick here is that there are only nine students. But in the tenth room at 15 you can speak to the "Armoire", which is a man in disguise. Or, you can speak to the nine students and then talk to Grace and suggest that *you* are the tenth student. Either way, Grace will join you.
After joining, make sure to speak to Grace about everything, and especially ask her opinions about your companions. She will have particularly interesting suggestions about Morte, Dak'kon and Nordom. Confront Morte with Grace's suspicions that he is not a Mimir, and he will confess that an earlier "You" pulled him from the Pillar of Skulls in Avernus. Morte will gain a substantial stat update for this (see Morte's entry in the NPC List for details).
After Grace has joined up, you'll also want to speak to Annah. She is NOT happy about this, so make sure to be diplomatic, or Annah will leave the company and be very hostile! Choose the "You're very important to me and I need your help!" dialog option.
At 3 you will find Yves the Tale-Chaser. You might already have met her mother Yvana, the owner of the Art and Curio Galleria. As her name implies, Yves chases Tales and is eager to trade tales with you. If asked about Ravel, Yves will suggest that you should speak to the silent prostitute, Ecco, in her room at 12.
You can tell Yves the tales you have learned through your travels, and she will in return tell you a tale. You can also get Morte, Dak'kon, Annah and Nordom to trade one tale each with her. Each tale you tell Yves will earn you 500 XP. If you have promised Hargrimm and Stale Mary not to tell anyone about the Silent King, then breaking your vow and telling Yves the tale is a very Chaotic act.
If you learn all Yves' stories, the Tattoo of the Tale-Weaver becomes available in Fell's Tattoo Parlor.
Yves' cupboard can be looted for 96 copper pieces, a Love Letter and a Handkerchief.
Kimasxi Adder-Tongue at 4 certainly lives up to her name! The first thing you should ask her is if she can teach Morte to be more abusive. She will trade insults with Morte, improving his Litany of Curses. At a later point, you will learn that Kimasxi and Kesai-Serris are half-sisters, and you will need to ask Kimasxi about this to get Kesai-Serris to accept that she is Ravel's daughter.
The drawers in Kimasxi's Room can be looted for a Handkerchief and a Gold Earring.
Dolora can usually be found at 5. She will challenge you in debating and in games. With an Intelligence of less than 17 you will simply lose. With an Intelligence of 17, you still lose, but for each discipline you will regain a memory and 3,000 XP. If your Intelligence is 18 or better, you will best Dolora in both debate and gaming, regain the memories, and get 5,000 XP per discipline.
Dolora will refuse to answer any questions – at least unless you can do her a favor first. A man named Merriman in the Civic Festhall has the keys to her heart and she wants you to speak to him for her. Promise to do so out of kindness (Good) or for money (Evil). To solve the quest, seek out Merriman in the Festhall. He won't give you the keys (yes, cutter, those are physical keys! Dolora is a robot!) for free, of course, so you have three options: Pickpocket him for the keys, kill him and take the keys from the body (not really recommended, unless you're spoiling for a fight with the Harmonium), or do his quest for him. See the Festhall page for details.
Once you have the keys, return them to Dolora for a whopping 30,000 XP. Dolora will now tell you that the reason Ecco can't speak is because her voice was stolen. You need this information to give Ecco her voice back.
Dolora's Room at 6 can be looted for a Handkerchief and 46 copper pieces.
Kesai-Serris at 7 is not quite as young as she looks. If asked, she will merely say that she is "plane-touched, like your friend here" (meaning Annah). She will vehemently deny any knowledge of Ravel.
In reality Kesai-Serris is Ravel's daughter, which you can learn from Ecco. The problem is getting her to accept this. First, you need the information from Ecco. Then you need to learn from Juliette that Kesai-Serris and Kimasxi Adder-Tongue are half-sisters. Finally, you need to learn from Kimasxi that they are indeed half-sisters, and that Kesai is the daughter of Ravel. Confront Kesai-Serris with this and she will ask her father, and finally accept the truth.
When you have learned from Quell in the Private Sensorium in the Civic Festhall that the key to Ravel's maze is a piece of Ravel herself, you can then ask Kesai for a piece of herself in the form of some of her blood. If you have a Handkerchief in your possession (you can "borrow" one in just about any room in the brothel!), she will give you a bit of blood on it, giving you the key to the portal to Ravel's maze along with 40,000 XP.
If killed, Kesai will also drop a Bloody Handkerchief. But killing her is easier said than done; it takes enchanted weapons to harm her, and the Harmonium will also rush to her defense! Attacking her also turns the rest of the Brothel against you.
Kesai-Serris' cupboard can be looted for 26 copper pieces.
Marissa at 8 is mean in a more refined way than Kimasxi Adder-Tongue – but still mean! She remains behind her screen because her sight turns people to stone, and unfortunately she has somehow lost her crimson veil. To return the veil for her:
Once Marissa has her veil back, you can ask her to turn a Lim-Lim into stone for you if you have bought a Lim-Lim at the Hive Market (Southwestern Hive Sector). You can then give the Stone Lim-Lim to Giltspur in the Lower Ward in return for the password to an Anarchist safehouse.
When Marissa asks about your looks, you have the option to lie and tell her you are tall and handsome. But don't let her look for herself; if you take this conversation path to its end, you will be turned into stone, thus losing the game!
Marissa's room can be looted for 12 copper pieces and a Silver Earring.
At 9 you will find the entrance to the Brothel Cellar. Move the cursor along the wall to discover the hidden door.
Vivian can normally be found at 10, though she tends to wander around in the common area. She has little information to share but will want you to find her "personal scent". You can find the scent by taking Marissa's veil from Luis the Wardrobe at 15. You will discover the smell in the veil, so take it to Vivian before delivering the veil to Marissa. This nets you 25,000 XP, and Vivian also helps you improve your smell, giving you a +1 bonus to your Charisma.
Vivian's Room at 11 can be looted for:
Ecco at 12 knows something about Ravel! Unfortunately she can't speak, so you need to give her her voice back:
Now, Ecco can tell her that one of Ravel's daughters, Kesai-Serris, works in the brothel.
The large cupboard in Ecco's room can be looted for 102 copper pieces.
Nenny Nine-Eyes at 13 is the central for brothel gossip. She knows something about both Marissa's stolen veil and Vivian's lost scent. Unfortunately she can't bring herself to say anything not nice about anyone. Suggest that she practice on you and let her rant a bit for 5,000 XP. She will now tell you that she saw Marissa sneak out of Vivian's room and that she thinks Kimasxi Adder-Tongue stole Marissa's veil.
Confront Kimasxi Adder-Tongue with this suspicion to learn that somebody has also stolen things from her room. Tell this to Nenny, who will now tell you that she saw a man sneaking out of Kimasxi's room. This information should tell you that the real thief is Luis the Wardrobe if you have met him.
Once you have learned from Ecco that Kesai-Serris is Ravel's daughter, Nenny will suggest that you speak to Juliette, since she and Kesai used to be friends.
Nenny's cupboards can be looted for:
Juliette at 14 is unhappy because of her relationship with Montague, a young Sensate in the Civic Festhall. Not that the relationship is unhappy, quite the contrary. It is so happy that it is boring! She needs something to spice up the relationship.
My favorite solution is the "fake love letters" method:
Juliette realizes at this point that her relationship is already interesting enough as it is! More to the point, she will now speak to you of other matters, such as the fact that Kesai-Serris and Kimasxi Adder-Tongue are half-sisters.
You can loot Juliette's drawers for a Gold Ring.
The wardrobe at 15 is a man in disguise. His name is Luis, and he claims to be here with the tacit understanding of the ladies – which is bending the truth, to say the least! If you try to blackmail him, he will simply trick you. Once you learn that he has stolen Marissa's veil and Vivian's scent, you can try to take the veil back from him. You can do this with a Dexterity of 16, with a Strength of 16, or by begging and whining for the veil until he relents.
The cupboard next to Luis contains one copper piece and Finam's Book. You'll want to bring the book to Finam the Linguist in Clerk's Ward.
The three Modrons at 16 are observing Dolora, though they don't know why. If you have bought the Metallic Cube Figurine at the Curiosity Shoppe, they can tell you that the figurine is most probably a portal. You can then use the figurine to travel to Rubikon. Apart from this, the Modrons have little use except as yet another opportunity to tell someone that your name is Adahn. ;-)
This is the place where the prostitutes' sensory stones are stored. The sensory stones store the sensations of the young ladies.

There is very little to do here. The exit back up to the main hall of the Brothel is at 1.
The Brothel Caretaker at 2 will only suggest that you really shouldn't be down here.
The Sensory Stones at 3-11 are completely useless. Each one has the name of the corresponding prostitute engraved on it.
The name on the Sensory Stone at 12 has been erased. You'll gain a journal entry about this stone but you won't learn anything else about it.
