The Rogue is included because, once her skills get high enough, she automatically takes care of any chests and their traps for the party.
An item that provides a bonus to Hiding will give her a guaranteed 100% chance to go into Hiding at the start of the round before any of the monsters can target her. She can then take an offensive action the next round. The third game provides options other than the hereto obligatory Thief's Dagger, and that opens up different possibilities. In fact, she'll get her bonus to Hiding from either her body armor or her headgear throughout the game. That in turn allows me to explore alternatives for her weapon.
Her weapon of choice becomes Red's Stiletto, which allows her to use Oscon's Haltfoe without limit. In fact, once she gets the Stiletto, I often have her stun-lock monsters that are within 20' feet of the party. She can safely use either this power, or go into Hiding, from the safety of the back ranks.
