Here is where you'll encounter the Dwarven Paragon, Branka. She will seal the way behind you, meaning that you can't leave until you've made your way to the Anvil of the Void that lies deep within these caves. You'll also be brought to the party selection screen, where it becomes apparent that Oghren has to come along.
Here you will have to fight at least 3 large waves of Darkspawn.
Here is the first of the traps that is designed to prevent entry to the Anvil. It is a chamber filled with poison gas. To shut off the poison gas, you have to hit four levers at the side of the room. The catch is, as soon as you hit one of the levers, one of several Stone Golems in this room will attack. Once it goes down, the next will attack, and the next, and so on.The way to do this is to hit one switch, and immediately run out of the room. This has at least three points. One is that you're not fighting the Golems while taking constant poison damage. The other is that the next Golem has to run a longer distance to catch up to you, and this can buy you time for healing spells or whatever other preparations you want to make. The third point is that it also makes possible the drawing-out technique, whereby you can lure forward at most one or two Golems ahead of the rest, and fight them one or two at a time instead of all at once.
The next chamber here has two Blade traps, which a Rogue can disarm. Once you make a certain part of the way across the room, you'll get attacked by two Stone Golems at once.
Here is a device that can fairly be described as a Spirit Anvil. It can constantly bring forth Dwarven warrior spirits to attack you. The key to getting through this is, as much as possible, trying to kill one of the spirits in close proximity to one of the smaller side anvils. If you're successful, the small side anvil will start to glow. Click on it to inflict damage on the main device. Repeat this enough times and you'll eventually destroy the Spirit Anvil.
Here is where you will find the other Dwarven Paragon, Caridin, who now exists as an enormous Steel Golem. He wants your help in destroying the Anvil of the Void. Branka then arrives and wants your help in claiming it for herself. The choice is yours.
If you do decide to side with Branka, Caridin and some of the Stone Golems will attack you. Keep in mind that some of the Stone Golems will actually help you. So, during the early phases, pick out a hostile Golem who is being attacked by a friendly Golem. Go straight for and try to kill that hostile Golem, and then the next hostile Golem who is being attacked by a friendly Golem, and so on. The idea is that as much as possible, you want to both keep your allies alive as long as possible, and get rid of Caradin's support as quickly as you can. Don't be afraid to help yourself to Health Poultices, especially in the early going. Caridin and at least a couple of the other Golems are going to gun straight for you, sometimes with boulder throwing or quake attacks. Anything less than half your health can leave you playing with fire. Once you get to Caridin, gang up on him and use whatever you can to minimize his fighting ability. He also has a special ability that resembles the Tempest spell. When he's nearly run out of health, he'll cause several spots in the ground around him to erupt with lava. Once that happens, make a beeline for a place not sprouting fire and let him come to you. Once he falls, he'll leave behind Caridin's Shield and Caridin's Cage.
When that is done, speak to Branka, and she'll forge the Paragon-Forged Crown so that you can also get the Dwarves of Orzammar to join you in your war against the Darkspawn. She also promises that she'll use the forge so that an army of Golems will also join your force.
If you decide to side with Caridin, Branka uses a Golem Control Rod so that she and some of the Stone Golems will attack. Same principle applies as with fighting Caridin. Branka herself takes a fair bit of damage before going down, and sometimes uses a special power where seeming clones of herself appear and attack. Once defeated, Branka will leave behind Vanguard (Silverite) and Branka's Shield (Silverite). Caridin will also agree to make the Paragon-Forged Crown for you so that you can get Orzammar to side with you against the Darkspawn, in return for you destroying the Anvil. Once the Anvil is destroyed, Caridin willingly falls into the molten lava below as he has already grown tired of life after having 'lived' for so long.
As an aside, you may also notice a Golem Registry in a corner of this cave, which is basically a memorial to those who gave up their former lives to become Golems. Click on it and you can get a Golem Registry Tracing that will be of interest to Shaper Czibor in the Shaperate. Bring it back to him for some xp.
Once you leave this area, whether you've sided with Branka or Caridin, head back to the Orzammar Commons and you'll be taken to a cutscene in the Assembly Chamber. At this point, you still have a choice about who you will make King, even if you worked against that candidate in the past. Whichever candidate you choose, whether it be Lord Harrowmount or Prince Bhelen, the new king will pledge Orzammar's aid in the coming war against the Darkspawn.
If you side with Prince Bhelen, his first official act will be to order Lord Harrowmount's execution. He'll also reward you with the Aeducan Mace (Grey Iron). If you side with Harrowmount, Prince Bhelen will prove a sore loser and order his men to help him attack you. Yes, another fight. When it's done, Lord Harrowmount will then reward you with Harrowmount's Staff (Steel).
