LONELYWOOD
To Lonelywood
Trials of the Luremaster was released for free as a sort of apology for Heart of Winter being rather short. The video begins with me importing my characters into Heart of Winter, which contains Trials of the Luremaster as well. The video then shows the opening movie for Heart of Winter, and then me speaking with a barbarian shaman named Hjollder about some great new threat. The video then concludes with the theme for Lonelywood playing.
*Note* When you first import your characters, their character voices will not be set. For each character, you have to go to their Record screens, select customize, then select sounds, and then choose their voices all over again.
Temple of Waukeen
Now I head over to the Temple of Waukeen in Lonelywood, which is a brief stopover before I begin Trials of the Luremaster in earnest.
This is where I show the fruits of holding onto all my expensive items that I found from about Chapter 4 onwards. If I had sold them during the original game, I would have lost all the gold from the sales after the transfer to Heart of Winter. But now I sell them to the priest in the Temple, Quinn Silverfinger, thus putting me in excellent position to buy what I want during the expansion packs.
Quinn himself sells quite a few magical weapons and armors, plus some unique items, including:
The Three White Doves also has a straight percentage chance of instantly destroying any undead creature based its number of hit dice, as follows:
Genevieve will buy and use this as her blunt weapon for the rest of the game. Pale Justice will still be her usual weapon, but she'll switch over to Three White Doves whenever she faces undead, which are quite frequent in both Trials of the Luremaster and Heart of Winter. With 3 attacks per round due to her Ring of Reckless Action, that's plenty of opportunities for the disruption power of the mace to kick in.
The Black Thorn searches towards the back end of Temple, and finds a secret door. The secret door reveals a hidden and trapped chest. The chest contains some valuable gems, as well as Quinn's Fancy Sling (+3 damage, +5 THAC0). This will be Halagrim's sling for the rest of the game.
The party next makes its way to a outreaches of a distant castle.
