SEVERED HAND – LEVEL 2
Dracien and Precious
Now I head up to the stairs, near the center, that go up to the second level. Nearby is a room that has a Half-Dragon named Dracien and her pet Chimera named Precious. Be careful about Dracien seeing you, as she is very impatient and remaining within her line of sight or within her room for too long can lead to her becoming hostile. If she goes hostile the rest of the Legion in the Severed Hand will as well, and this can mean losing out on a lot of quest-related xp. I will kill them, but not until I've done all the quests I can first.
So I first open the door and then quickly get out of sight. Lady Elanna than casts Improved Invisibility on Tithian. Tithian then sneaksin and starts looting the room. Any time he clicks on a container I hit pause right thereafter, click on the items I want to get them into my inventory, and then have Tithian gulp one of his remaining Potions of Invisibility. This way I can make off with the loot without provoking Dracien.
The booty includes:
Roga Thulc and Vylu Pehlv
For the next quest I head over to the large room on the south side, and then speak with a Dwarf named Roga Thulc. A woman named Vylu is apparently sabotaging the construction work with the aid of a few Earth Elementals she has claimed as kin.
I then head over to the room towards the northwest and speak with Vylu. She's obviously mentally ill.
Once I report her condition to Roga, he suggests finding a cure from a priest on the fourth floor. I then go up to the fourth floor and head for the room towards the northeast corner. Ruinlord Eradru is willing to give me a potion to cure her condition.
I then give the potion to Vylu to cure her illness, and then report my success to Roga for an xp reward.
Demonic Constructs
Now I continue to the north side, well past Kav Lathram. A couple of Red Wizards ask for my aid. I then kill a couple of Demonic Constructs. It was apparently an experiment on the Wizards' part, who promptly teleport away. I get an xp bonus for being an unwitting participant.
The containers in this room hold a spell scroll for Meteor Swarm, as well as the Diary of Garuk Katah which has some interesting information.
Vese Nejj
Now I see the Red Wizards on the east side of the level. Their leader, Vese Nejj, wants me to do a couple of tasks for him.
The first is to discover the secret to entering the Wizard's Tower, the stairs to which is on the west side of the fourth level. The key is to select the stars in an order that that makes out a pentagram, starting with the top, then the bottom-right, and so on. I'll get an xp reward for reporting my success to Vese.
His next task is to retrieve three items for him: Orrick's spellbook, the Book of the Mythal, and Larrel's Bones.
So I go back to the Wizard's Tower the same way I did previously. I explore around the first level for a bit. I find Orrick's Spellbook at around 7:42 of the video. Soon thereafter I also find an item added by the Light of Selune mod, Headknocker (+3 Club, 33% chance of 1d6 crushing damage, 20% chance of confusing target), but I have no use for it.
I take the stairs up to the next level, which is the Library of the Tower. I find the Book of the Mythal at around 8:45 of the video.
I continue on to the next level and get Larrel's Bones at around 9:05 of the video.
I bring the items back to Vese, except he doesn't offer me membership. Lord Markus, having good Diplomacy, is instead able to persuade Vese to give me a choice between the Great Fortitude, Lightning Reflexes, and Iron Will feats for one character. I chose Lightning Reflexes for Lady Elanna, the idea being her Reflex saving throws are rather weak and I could use a boost for the long-range spell attacks she sometimes faces.
The Death of Zaem Astyr
Now I go to the library at the west side of the level. The book of interest is the Diary of Zaem Astyr. I then speak with the keeper of the Library, Cedrin Z'il, who speculates that Zaem may have committed suicide, or may have been killed by one of his own creations.
I then speak to Kav Lathram and then get more information about Zaem's death.
I then go upstairs and speak with Zaem's fiance, Jaebrilla. She relates that nobody should have known about Zaem's work because he honored his obligations of confidentiality. Except Zaem did ... Meanwhile, a container near Jaebrilla has a scroll of Executioner's Eyes, as well as the Black Hands of Shelgoth (Death Ward on wearer, Inflict Magic Wounds 1/day). This will be Stygar's helmet for the rest of the game.
I then speak with Kav Lathram again, who realizes that Cedrin should not have known about Zaem's work and thus Cedrin could be the murderer. Kav also speculates that Cedrin may have found a way to get past Zaem's magical wards.
I then speak to Cedrin again, who admits to the deed and explains how he pulled it off. I then run straight to Vese Nejj, who administers justice on Cedrin. I get an xp bonus for this.
I then wrap up the video by getting more xp bonuses for informing the Lizardman-like creature on the first level, Kav Lathram, and Jaebrilla that Cedrin has been brought to justice.
Now it's on to the third level.
