Why She's Included
The Druid provides an interesting mix of offensive and healing spells. Insect Swarm can render enemy spell casters helpless. Static Discharge can provide hefty period damage to single targets over the course of a long time, and so on. The Druid is also best suited to crowd control. Individually, spells like Entangle and Spike Stones may not do a whole lot on their own. Chances are, the monster will make a single saving throw and simply walk out of the area. If she can set them up all together, it can stop an entire horde in their tracks as chances are they'll fail at least one saving throw and remain stuck. If the Mage can chip in with cloud spells like Web, Cloudkill, Acid Fog, it gets even better.
The Druid's use of spells is, however, pretty infrequent and dependent on whether the situation necessitates it. So I like to have a Fighter/Druid who can contribute to physical combat in between casting spells. And there are some good armor and scimitars available to her.
