ENDINGS

There are many possible different fates awaiting your companions, dependent on whether you ended the curse as part of the Good Ending, expelled Akachi from your soul as part of the Selfish Ending, absorbed Akachi's soul into yourself as part of the Suboptimal ending, mastered the spirit hunger as part of the Evil Ending, were in a romance with any of the companions, your own alignment, and/or your influence with the companions. The myriad possibilities are described below. My own personal preferences are for Valeria to do the Good Ending, and for Zarathos to do the Evil Ending.

Valeria's Good Ending

Here is where Valeria uses the Mask of the Betrayer to end the curse once and for all. Possible fates for Gann if he was in a romance with the protagonist are:

Okku returns to his Barrow, content that his oath has been fulfilled. He briefly rouses afterwards in order to defend Rashemen against a Thayan invasion. This was the outcome shown in the video.

There are two possibilities for Kaelyn for the Good Ending:

Zarathos' Good Ending

Now comes the epilogue. Safiya's possible outcomes during this ending are:

Possible outcomes for Gann where the protagonist was not in a romance with him are: As previously mentioned, being in a romance with Safiya and having One of Many present at the ending leads to the eventual demises of both. There are a couple of alternative possible fates for One of Many if there was no romance with Safiya or if she was not present at the ending:

Valeria's Selfish Ending

Here is the ending where Valeria decides to slay the Faceless Man instead of using the Mask of the Betrayer to restore him. Other than a chiding from Kelemvor, the possible fates for Gann when he is in a romance with the protagonist would have been the same. The possible fates will also remain the same for Kaelyn as with the Good Ending.

Okku ends up sad and forgotten in the wake of the Spirit Eater curse persisting in Rashemen.

Zarathos' Selfish Ending

The fates for Gann where the protagonist is not in a romance with him would have remained the same.

Safiya will leave the protagonist, romance or not, and head back to the Academy. She quitely slays any Red Wizard who knew of the Founder's existence, and labors endlessly to find a cure for the curse of the Spirit Eater.

One of Many will remain a loyal servant to the protagonist.

Valeria's Suboptimal Ending

This ending is possible only if Valeria did not obtain all three pieces of the Mask of the Betrayer. In that event, she can choose to bind the soul of the Faceless Man to her own soul. She then becomes in essence a False Soul in servitude to Kelemvor for eternity. Gann joins her in her eternal vigil.

Okku's ending will be the same as if Valeria had used the Mask to end the curse.

Kaelyn's epilogue is that she is unable to muster much in the way of any meaningful support to continue her crusade against the Wall of the Faithless. She and the rest of the Menagerie become outcasts always having to hide in the Plane of Shadow. This epilogue for Kaelyn is unique to the Suboptimal Ending.

Zarathos' Suboptimal Ending

In the other playthrough, it is Safiya who joins Zarathos in his eternal vigil. One of Many departs.

Gann becomes the popular leading man at the Veil Theater for a time, but then disappears into the wilds of Rashemen.

Valeria's Evil Ending

Getting this ending requires that I have the Ravenous Incarnation Power from having used Devour Spirit (instead of Eternal Rest) on Myrkul. If that prerequisite is satisfied, I can then have the option to devour the soul of the Faceless Man.

For what it's worth, the Faceless Man will leave behind Akachi's Scythe (Scythe +10, +4d6 negative energy damage, damage reduction 10/-).

All of my companions, Gann included, attack Valeria. She takes a few hits early on, but manages to unleash a Vampiric Feast spell, which kills Okku outright.

Valeria has a new power, Spiritual Evisceration, which allows her to inflict MASSIVE damage on a single target. She finishes off Gann outright next. Kaelyn falls last.

The epilogue consists of Valeria becoming an Elder Evil that unleashes terror on the planes, and being above the vengeance of even the Gods themselves.

Zarathos' Evil Ending

This is my preferred ending during an evil playthrough. Gann, and Safiya as well despite being in a romance with Zarathos, go on the attack. One of Many stays loyal. Zarathos has little trouble using Spiritual Evisceration to obliterate both Gann and Safiya.

Zarathos becomes an Elder Evil that not even the Gods can prevail against, with One of Many as his loyal minion for eternity.
