Raedric's Hold Keep

Raedric's Hold Keep

You'll have your usual Paladins of Berath, Priestesses of Berath, Sellswords, and Raedric's Guards patrolling this level. A new kind of foe will be Spellwrights, who can cast 1st and 2nd level Wizard spell. They will leave behind Wands, Fine Robes, Capes, and Spellwright Grimoires when killed.

  1. Here is the initial entrance to the Keep after entering the doors at #25 on the map of the exterior of Raedric's Hold.

  2. The party will find a random narcotic or two here.

  3. The party will find a random food item or two here.

  4. These stairs will lead to the Sanctuary of the Hold at #1.

  5. These stairs will lead to the Dungeons at #19.

  6. This room will have several enemies in it. There will be a chest with a random potion and some coins in it. There will also be an armor rack with a random armor item in it and some coin.

  7. The containers in this room will have random weapons and coins in them.

  8. These doors require the Burnished Steel Key to open.

  9. Here is Lord Raedric's study. The containers here have the following:

  10. The switch here can only be discovered while in scouting mode. It will open the secret door at #11.

  11. This secret door will open after hitting the hidden switch at #10.

  12. These stairs lead down to the Dungeons at #15. The room itself will be enclosed unless Osrya opened the way for you after doing a task for her in the course of the Lord of a Barren Land quest.

  13. Here is Lord Raedric's Office. Most of the containers will have random items such as potions and weapons, plus some coins. There will be a small chest on the right-hand side of the desk. It will have an item from the "Main Floor - Desk" section of the random drop list.

  14. Here is Lord Raedric's Bedroom. You'll discover that Lord Raedric's late wife, Ygrid, lies dead on the bed, murdered by her own husband. There will be a small chest at the foot of the bed. It will have an item from the "Main Floor - Bed" section of the random drop list.

  15. These stairs lead down to the Sanctuary of the Hold at #18.

  16. NedmarThe party will encounter Lord Raedric himself here. Whether you choose to kill him and install Kolsc as the new Lord of Gilded Vale, or assassinate Kolsc at Raedric's behest, is a fundamental decision that concludes the Lord of a Barren Land quest.

If you do decide to fight, it's a pretty tough battle. Lord Raedric himself is a much more powerful version of a Paladin of Berath. He will be helped by more powerful versions of Paladins of Berath called Champions of Berath, a more powerful Sellsword called a Bodyguard, an Archer, a Priest of Berath called the Favored of Berath, and a couple of more powerful Spellwrights called Archmages. They are equipped pretty much the same as others of Lord Raedric's minions that you may have encountered (e.g. Archmages will have the same kind of equipment as Spellwrights). If you do commit yourself to a battle, my advice is to make the Favored of Berath your number one priority until he is killed. Hit him with missile fire and spells right away. Send a damage dealing warrior to finish him off. The reason is that his spells, especially Consecrated Ground, can keep the rest of your enemies going strong even after you've inflicted significant damage on them. The Archmages should ideally be next.

If you prevail, Lord Raedric will have equipment similar to a Paladin of Berath, but with the difference that he leaves behind a Great Sword called Justice.
