A generic warrior with lots of Hit Points, able to hold down the 2nd slot with little fear of harm, and able to dish out plenty of damage. The long term plan come the third game is to turn him into a Geomancer, a mage that can both use earth-themed magic and still wear the heavy equipment of front-line warriors. The theme I had in mind is a monstrous warrior who also develops magical powers, and will eventually take over Malefia as the new God of Evil.
