From the First Take the Last

I start by going straight east for a bit and then hitting the teleporter at 21N 20E. It takes me to 21N 1E.

From there I go to 19N 2E. A voice tells me: "From the first take the last, fifth from the second, and eighth from the third." It's a clue about three passwords I'll need. The last word from the first sentence, the fifth word from the second sentence, and the eighth word from the third sentence.

I leave and then go west until I hit the teleporter at 20N 20E. It takes me to 20N 17E. From there I go to 21N 13E.

A Fountain of Life

I go north through the door, and then win fights against random monsters at 0N 12E, 2N 13E, 3N 13E, 1N 20E, 2N 20E, 2N 21E, 1N 18E, 3N 15E, 2N 17E and 3N 18E. I go to the teleporter at 3N 19E, which takes me to 8N 19E.

I next win fights at 6N 20E, 7N 20E, 6N 18E, 6N 17E, 8N 17E, 6N 16E and 7N 16E. A voice at 8N 15E says: "The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death." That turns out to be the third sentence from the earlier clue (why is explained soon). So "fountain" is the third password.

I next win fights against random monsters at 7N 12E, 7N 13E and 5N 12E. I go the teleporter at 5N 17E, which takes me to 10N 17E.

The First Says Dwell ...

I begin by winning fights against random monsters at 11N 18E, 13N 18E and 11N 20E.

A voice at 12N 20E says: "The first says dwell, the second hell, the third of wisdom it will tell." The first sentence has the word 'dwell' in it, the second sentence has the word 'hell' in it, and the third sentence has the word 'tell' in it.

I continue with fights against random monsters at 10N 12E, 13N 12E, 13N 13E, 11N 15E, 13N 15E and 11N 16E. The teleporter at 13N 17E takes the party to 13N 11E.

The Sorrows of Hell Compassed Me About

I win numerous fights against random monsters at 15N 11E, 17N 11E, 17N 12E, 16N 13E, 17N 13E, 17N 14E, 16N 15E, 17N 15E, 16N 21E, 17N 21E, 17N 20E, 16N 19E, 17N 19E, 17N 18E, 16N 17E, 17N 17E and 16N 16E.

After the last fight, I enter a lengthy hallway that is filled with squares that replenish Spell Points. I travel to its end and wait for Talia's and Mordred's Spell Points to recoup. I have Ariel switch her song to Rhyme of Duotime to hasten the process. She switches back to Traveller's Tune once Talia and Mordred are fully recharged.

I enter the dark room to the north, and at 20N 7E a voice tells me: "The sorrows of hell compassed me about; the snares of death prevented me." "Compassed" is the fifth word from the second sentence.

I next win fights against random monsters at 4N 3E, 2N 4E and 2N 3E before returning to the hallway.

Dwell on the Face of the Whole Earth

I resume winning fights against random monsters at 9N 0E, 8N 0E, 6N 0E, 1N 0E, 2N 0E, 4N 0E, 3N 10E, 2N 8E, 4N 8E, 7N 10E, 8N 10E, 11N 10E, 11N 7E and 11N 5E. There are traps at the crossroads in this area as well, so I use Trap Zap when needed.

I head back south for a bit, and win a fight against random monsters at 2N 6E. A voice at 1N 8E says: "For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth." "Earth" is the last word in the first sentence.

I thereafter win fights against random monsters at 13N 7E, 12N 4E and 12N 2E.

In The Lands Within ...

I win fights against random monsters at 17N 2E, 15N 1E, 15N 3E, 16N 3E and 17N 3E.

A Magic Mouth at 14N 4E says: "In the lands within, and the traps between, what was the secret once - now cannot be seen!" I doubt this has any value to the game itself.

I thereafter win fights against random monsters at 13N 7E, 12N 4E and 12N 2E.

Earth Compassed Fountain

Now I win fights against random monsters at 6N 4E, 7N 5E, 7N 7E, 8N 7E and 8N 3E.

A Magic Mouth at 6N 2E asks for the three words in sequence. The right answers in order are "earth", "compassed" and "fountain". The Magic Mouth announces that a portal has opened.

But first, I cast Major Levitation and then go to a square that replenishes Spell Points at 0N 11E. I wait until Talia and Mordred are fully recharged, hastened along by a temporary Rhyme of Duotime.

The portal to the fourth level is at 6N 2E.
