CHANTER'S BOARD
Bandits, Bandits Everywhere
Here is where I perform the first of three quests for the Chantry in Lothering, to get rid of the remaining bandits in the area.
There are three groups of Bandits. One is north of the small knoll with a tree on it. Another is north on the other side of the Dane's Refuge Inn. The last is on the north edge of Lothering, on the other side of a large hill.
My method for each was the same. Alistair charges ahead of the rest of the party to present himself as the initial target. Morrigan hits as many as she can with a Sleep spell, followed up with a Horror spell on one of the sleeping bandits. Aldarion waits until some of the Bandits form a line next to Alistair and then hits them with Cone of Cold. Once that initial phase is executed, it turns into Aldarion, Leliana, and Morrigan going to work at a distance with missile fire and single-target spells.
The third fight includes the Bandit Leader, but the same method still works. The Leader leaves behind a complete set of Heavy Chainmail, which Alistair will wear as an interim armor set. I then report my success to Chanter Devon and get 3gp.
When Bears Attack
The next quest involves killing a trio of Black Bears towards the northeast corner of Lothering. I get in as much spell and missile fire as I can before they close in, which gives me some advantage when matters come to close combat. I return to Chanter Devon to get 1gp as a reward.
A Last Keepsake
Here is the video of me doing the Last Keepsake quest for the Chantry. This can be a tough fight because of the sheer size of the Wolf packs. The drawing-out technique won't work, because they're tightly packed together. I have to pull out every stop that I can. Alistair charges ahead to present himself as the initial target. Leliana uses Venom so that her daggers score extra Nature damage. Note that I am exercising patience here. I wait until all of the Wolves have closed in before Morrigan unleashes Sleep. Leliana then carefully aims an Acid Flask to catch as many Wolves as she can without hurting her own comrades. This actually suffices to kill a lot of them outright, making the rest of the fight a mop up.
I then grab the Keepsake Locket and bring it back to Chanter Devon and get 50xp for my efforts. Also, as a reward for completing all three of the Chantry quests, I earned the Oathkeeper Sword (+1.5 armor penetration, +10% to healing effects received), which makes for a decent interim sword for Aldarion.
I am now ready to leave Lothering.
