FROSTBACK MOUNTAIN PASS
Bounty Hunters
I now journey for the Frostback Mountain Pass. First up are a group of bounty hunters out for my head. This fight, unlike most others, is not scalable and is always high level, in order to ensure that low-level players don't make for Orzammar right away. Suffice it to say, I do what I can to grab the initiative. Aldarion has switched over to his staff beforehand. He gets the Mage right away with Mana Clash. He then hits the three melee bounty hunters, who are conveniently lined up in a row next to Alistair, with Cone of Cold. The fight is an easy win after that.
The Sword of the Beresad
I speak to Sten in order to get him to open up about why he slaughtered the farmhold that took him in. It turns out that he panicked about losing his own personal sword. This dialogue sets off Sten's personal quest.
The first part of the quest involves travelling to Lake Calenhad, and finding a squatter who got swindled for it by a merchant named Faryn.
Then it's travelling back to the top of the Frostback Mountain Pass, and getting Faryn to reveal that he sold it to a Dwarf in Redcliffe. While I'm at it, I also buy the Dwarven Smith's Belt (+1 armor) and a Grandmaster Silverite Rune from Faryn. Alistair uses the belt on an interim basis.
Now it's time to head back to Redcliffe and find the same Dwarf that I had to convince to join in the village's defense, Dwyn. Buying the sword back, or making an Intimidation or Persuasion check will work. I gift Sten's Sword to Sten and get a +13 influence boost with Sten afterwards. Once gifted the sword becomes Asala (+1 willpower, +2.5 armor penetration, +12 attack), but I still prefer Starfang for Sten.
The video concludes with me placing the Grandmaster Silverite Rune into Alistair's sword.
Imrek
Now I go near the entrance to Orzammar. A messenger of Teyrn Loghain named Imrek wants to gain entry, but the Dwarven guards refuse. They'll let me in though, since I'm a Grey Warden. Imrek thus spoils for a fight. I could Intimidate him into leaving, but I'd rather just kill him and his Bodyguards. The method is a familiar one, take out the Mage instantly with Mana Clash, and then hold down Imrek and his other Bodyguard with a Cone of Cold.
The Guards then let me into the Orzammar Commons.
