THE ROYAL PALACE
A Prince's Favor: The Second Task
I report the completion of the First Task to Vartag Gavorn in the Chamber of the Assembly. I get an xp reward, and get brought to an audience with Prince Bhelen in the Royal Palace. Prince Bhelen's Second Task for me is to wipe out the Carta of criminals that is led by a ruthless woman named Jarvia.
By the way, this is another advantage of allying with Prince Bhelen to begin with, I get much earlier access to the Royal Palace.
Exotic Methods
Now I head for a room on the west side of the Palace, south of the Ambassador Suite. A noblewoman named Lady Brodens lies ill, while Herbalist Wedron lacks the potion that can undo the poisoning. This quest involves making a Dwarven Regicide Antidote to cure the poisoning.
Wedron gives me the recipe, which requires a Flask, 4 Elfroots, 2 Lifestones, and 2 Concentration Agents. I already had the ingredients beforehand, but if you're missing any of them, they can all be purchased from Figor's Imports (I'll say more about this shop later on). I had to briefly leave the palace and then temporarily switch out Wynne for Morrigan so that the latter could create the Antidote. I then return to Lady Brodens' bedroom, and click on her to complete the quest, for which I get 150xp.
Prince Bhelen's Bedroom
Now I leave and go to the room that's a little further east. It's Prince Bhelen's bedroom. The only point of interest is a potentially scandalous letter that reveals that Prince Bhelen is having an affair with a casteless woman named Rica.
Caged in Stone
Now I complete a quest to find a hidden sword in the Throne Room. To uncover the item, toggle the 'free movement' button on the left side of the screen. Have three characters stand on top of pressure plates as shown in the video. Now have a fourth character click on the Throne itself. A Dragon will come forth. By now a Dragon is rather easy for a higher-level battle. Even so, some care is still needed, like when Wynne uses Lifeward on Leliana when the Dragon charges after her, and thus makes sure she can survive an Overwhelm or other attacks from the Dragon. The Dragon leaves behind a Silverite Greatsword, Ageless (increases hostility, +0.5 stamina regeneration, +4 damage vs. darkspawn). For characters who want to use Ageless but realize it doesn't have any rune slots, simply sell it to Mikhail Dryden at Warden's Keep (after it becomes your keep), leave the area and come back. It will then have 2 rune slots like a Silverite weapon should.
Unintended Breakthrough
I go east from the main room of the Royal Palace. At some point some Dwarven Tunneling Thieves break through into the hallway. Wynne wins this fight easily enough by planting a Grease spell right at their feet before they've even had a chance to start, and then following up immediately with a Fireball.
Nethamas Bigal, Second Corpsewalker
Now I go east and then north a little. There's a room to the left and a room to the right. I go into the one to the right. The room has another black vial that's holding a Revenant. The formula is the same. Use single-target spells or abilities on it (Cone of Cold, Petrify, Glyph of Paralysis, Misdirection Hex, etc.) to either immobilize it or reduce its ability to strike, pound away, and using both healing spells and Health Poultices when necessary.
It is at this point that I decide to change my allegiance, so I head over to Lord Harrowmont's Estate.
