WARDEN'S KEEP RESTORED
Restoring the Keep
I then talk Avernus and Levi Dryden into staying on, with the Keep as my new base for the Grey Wardens.
Asturian's Portrait
Here is where I find Asturian's hidden chest, and loot the longsword Asturian's Might (+2 damage, +1 armor penetration, weakens nearby Darkspawn), the Shadow Belt (+3% chance of melee critical hit, reduces hostility), and a few other items.
*Note* If you want to uncover the hidden chest, you absolutely MUST find all of the Codex entries relevant to the Ancient History quest beforehand. Also, if you leave the inside of the Keep after defeating the Desire Demon and without having looted the hidden chest, you will never get another chance. The reason is that the game will deem the quest to close the Veil concluded, and Warden's Keep becomes an outdoor area whereby you cannot again get into its interior.
It is also important to note that the 'weakens nearby Darkspawn' and the 'reduces hostility' item properties are not implemented properly in Dragon Age. I've heard there are mods to address this, but I figure I can win anyway with effective strategies anyway, so I haven't bothered. In the meantime, Asturian's Might makes for a handy interim sword for either Aldarion or Alistair. Zevran will wear the Shadow Belt for the rest of the game, as the bonus to critical hit chance ties in perfectly with his role as a melee damaging Rogue. I have another belt in mind for Leliana later on.
Dryden Family Wares
The first part of the video consists of me advancing Sten, Morrigan, and the Hound a level. I also equip Sten with the Imperium Crossbow, and Zevran with the Shadow Belt. Aldarion switches over to Asturian's Might, and hands off Oathkeeper over to Zevran.
The Warden's Keep now becomes my own personal base. Levi Dryden sells quite a lot of miscellaneous wares. I bought from him a Grandmaster Frost Rune (which I add to Zevran's sword) and a Grandmaster Cold Iron Rune, which I'll add to Alistair's weapon to score extra damage against the undead.
Levi's cousin, Mikhael Dryden, sells pretty much every armor and weapon under the sun, usually made of Silverite or Dragonbone. I show one of the key uses for his shop. Aldarion strips out of his Warden Commander's armor set, and sells the pieces to Mikhael. I then leave and come back to Mikhael's shop. If any of the armor pieces have turned into Dragonbone (they were originally Steel), I'll buy them back. If any of them are Silverite instead, I'll simply leave for Camp and come back again until they're Dragonbone.
Starfang
Now it is time to find the meteor metal ore that can be used to forge a powerful sword. This comes as a random encounter. As the video shows, the route between Warden's Keep and Lake Calenhad is ideal. You are then treated to a cinematic clip with an obvious Superman reference. I grab the ore and head back to Warden's Keep. I then speak to Mikhail Dryden and choose the two-handed version of Starfang, with the idea that it will be Sten's weapon of choice for the remainder of the game. I have a different sword in mind for Alistair.
Where to next? It's time to return to Ostagar since my intention is to score what will be Alistair's armor for the rest of the game, and as well as what will be Aldarion's sword-and-shield setup for much of the game.
