WARDEN'S KEEP - LEVEL 1
Statement of Defiance
Once I enter the Keep itself I experience another vision whereby Sophia Dryden is determined to lead the remaining Grey Wardens in a last stand against the forces of King Arland. Near the door is a roster of Grey Wardens past.
Letter from Bann Mathuis Wulff
On the other side of the door will be an Arcane Horror and two Rage Demons. Fortunately they're close to each other, so Aldarion can nail them all at once with a Cone of Cold. One of the Rage Demons resists, so Aldarion gets it with Winter's Grasp. Wynne finishes off the other one with an Arcane Bolt. Aldarion then dooms the Arcane Horror with Crushing Prison. On a nearby table will be a Letter from Bann Mathuis Wulff that explains past events.
Commander Athlar
Next is Commander Athlar and his support crew of skeletal archers in the room on the west side. Athlar packs a mean Greataxe, so I spare no spell (Crushing Prison, Arcane Bolt, Lightning) in order to take him down as fast as I can. Once Athlar falls, Aldarion and Alistair head for the archers up the stairs. Wynne makes sure to heal any damage that is inflicted. A table south of where the archers had been provides a Codex Entry for "Plea from Commander Athlar."
Archivist
Now I go to the Mess Hall on the east side. I grab a random item from the chest.
I next go north, and then west. The next fight is scaled. It will be Skeletons that come in 3 waves if you come here as a low-level party. In my case it's the Archivist, who has become a Rage Demon, along with two other Rage Demons. Aldarion hits them with a Cone of Cold. He then Shatters one with a Crushing Prison, while Wynne Shatters the other with a Stone Fist. Two more show up, but I outlast them in physical combat. Alistair meanwhile has kept the Archivist from doing much of anything through the use of shield talents.
I click on the Archivist's book in the northeast corner of the room, and view a cutscene involving the Archivist and his apprentice.
I click on the other book in the southwest corner of the room. This provides another Codex Entry that is needed to complete the Ancient History side quest.
Now I am ready to go up to the second level of Warden's Keep.
