COVEYA KURG'ANNIS

Coveya Kurg'annis

Gawatha

I start off at #1 on the map. At #2 on the map is an Ogre Magi named Gawatha and two Ogres. Gawatha has a slave boy named Kepob who presents a roleplaying choice. Valeria chooses to kill Gawatha and his Ogres in order to free the boy, which earns influence with Kaelyn.

The trio go down easily. Gawatha leaves behind the Thusanta Hide (Hide Armor, -2 armor class, +7 Strength, +8 Constitution, -4 Intelligence), which nobody in the party has any use for, although it may be useful for a shapeshifting Druid because the Strength and Constitution bonuses will transfer.

*Evil* Gawatha

Zarathos prefers to purchase Kepob from Gawatha for reasons that will become apparent very soon.

Vlooshk

At #3 is a pack of Uthraki led by Vlooshk. They want to kill Valeria since she spared Okku and therefore 'betrayed the Gift'. I make a point of choosing the dialogue option about how the spirit hunger is no Gift and that they will no longer eat any of the innocent, in order to increase my influence with both Kaelyn and Okku. They're pretty easy to overwhelm in straight up combat, although Gann and Valeria do chip in with offensive spells.

Vlooshk leaves behind the Dented Platter (Heavy Shield +5, +25% slashing resistance, -10% blunt vulnerability, +6 Fortitude saving throws), but everybody else has better shields.

*Evil* Vlooshk

The Uthraki aren't immediately inclined to attack Zarathos, since he indulges 'the Gift' in a way that the Uthraki approve of.

Zarathos could gain influence with One of Many by suggesting that the Uthraki take a bite from either Safiya or Gann, but that would result in an influence loss with either Safiya or Gann at the same time.

I therefore offer the boy named Kepob to the Uthraki, which results in a +11 influence gain with One of Many, but without losing any influence with any other companion. Zarathos also gets the Dented Platter as a reward, but nobody in the party has any use for it.

Ankhriva

At #4 is a Lich named Ankhriva, along with two Elite Vampires, two Death Knights, and two Mummy Lords. The Diplomacy check is impossible to make, and all of the dialogue leads to one inevitability, combat. I slaughter everything in sight. Valeria hangs back and waits until she can Eternal Rest an undead monster who is 'near death' but with still enough hit points left to replenish her spirit energy.

Akhriva leaves behind the Wand of Eternal Decay (Inflict Moderate Wounds without limit, Contagion (5) 3 / day, Crumble (11) 1 / day, Harm (11) 1 / day, Horrid Wilting (15) 1 / day). This wand, unlike most others, does not expend charges but instead allows the user to access its powers daily or without limit. It's a useful resource for Valeria as she can now use spells that were previously unavailable to her (e.g. Crumble, Harm) or use other spells without taking of valuable slots in her spellbook (e.g. Horrid Wilting).

*Evil* Ankhriva

I begin by entering Ankhriva's room, and then closing the door behind me. I next position Gann and One of Many near the door. I then issue a 'stand your ground' command. There's a specific reason for this set up.

Zarathos speaks with Ankhrivia, and earns another +6 influence with One of Many by agreeing to have One of Many appear to the Lich. Some of his undead minions would normally try to flee. However, I avoid losing any xp through the setup that I mentioned previously. Some of the undead minions have their AI tripped up, so they don't attempt to flee. One Death Lord tries to open the door and flee, but Gann hunts him down and kills him.

Safiya hits most of them with a Sun Burst spell, which renders most of my enemies helpless. I manage to score my influence with One of Many and avoid losing any xp at the same time.

Blessing of the Menagerie

I've made some progress with Kaelyn, so now I speak at some length with her. Dialogue options that reflect compassion or kindness, or sympathizing with her quest to tear down the Wall of the Faithless, are reliable ways to score influence with Kaelyn. There will also be at one point an interesting banter between Kaelyn and Gann when I ask her about her eyes. Valeria isn't afraid to take a jab at Gann's ego, it actually wins influence with him as well.

Once my approval with Kaelyn reaches 50 or above, meaning she's 'Loyal', I speak to her again. Kaelyn now confers a bonus feat, the Blessing of the Menagerie, which gives both Valeria and Kaelyn a +2 to Wisdom and a +2 to Fortitude saving throws.

Devotion of the Menagerie

I continue to speak with Kaelyn, selecting responses that I know will win influence with her. At some point my influence with her goes over 90. When next I speak with her, she confers the Devotion of the Menagerie feat. Both Kaelyn and Valeria attain +4 Wisdom, +2 Fortitude saving throws, and Freedom of Movement.

*Evil* Greater Negative Aura

Zarathos earns influence by with One of Many by allowing it to scare away the Genasi prince. My approval with One of Many is now above 75, so I speak with it again, which leads to the Greater Negative Aura feat. That means +2 to Strength and Intelligence for One of Many, and +1 for all other attributes. Zarathos still has the same attribute bonuses (i.e. +1), but now he gains +6 regeneration, +9 Intimidate, -9 Diplomacy, and +20% to Spirit Gorge.

The Mistress

At #5 is The Mistress. I make a point of gaining influence with Gann during the conversation by selecting the 'he speaks with my voice' dialogue option.

Any encounter with her leads to the same eventuality, getting banished to the Skein.
