Arena District Map

Statues of Westgate

I start off near the entrance to the Undergate, at #2 on the Arena District Map. I then make my way to #10, where I find the Statue of Durgar the Just. I get 50xp for reading the inscription.

Market Triangle

I next go to the Market Trinagle. At #3 is the Statue of Alias. I get 50xp for reading the inscription.

Harbor Loop

Now I go to the Harbor Loop. I get 50xp for reading the inscription of the Statue of Kisonraathiisar at #5 and another 50xp for reading the inscription of the Statue of King Verovas at #6.

Everybody in the party now gets the Tourist feat (+3 Lore) for reading the inscriptions on all four statues in Westgate.

Dimples the Dancer

The next quest begins in the Black Eye Tavern. I first speak to Little Davey, at the bar, to learn that their dancer has gone missing and that I should speak further with Marv about it. Marv speaks somewhat more at length about Dimples the Dancer.

I make my way to the City Watch Barracks, which is at #11 on the Arena District map. I enter the Barracks, and find Dimples in the room to the right. She quit showing up at the Black Eye because she twisted her ankle, and she didn't want anyone there to know she was a member of the Watch. You could try to heal her ankle so that she can go back to dancing again, but it requires your main character to have a quite significant skill rank in Heal. Those Healing Kits +10 from the Bent Mermaid Inn might come in handy.

Healing her ankle is only one way to finish the quest, and it's not necessary. It is also enough to simply tell Marv that Dimples is alive but won't be coming back, or tell him the whole story. I chose the last option.

However it is resolved, Marv will reward me with 500xp. He also gives me a Potion of Cure Serious Wounds and a Potion of Cure Moderate Wounds. I could refuse the potions if I wanted to give my alignment a small boost towards good.

Okuzo's Honor

For the next quest, I enter Okuzo's Imports at #7 on the Harbor Loop map. I speak to the proprietor, Okuzo. She does have some interesting wares for sale, but I won't concern myself with that for now. Getting the quest started requires asking her about the scar near her eye. That's when she explains her feud with Dallia Urdo and her henchmen. I offer to speak to Dallia on her behalf.

House Dallia can be found at #4 on the Market Triangle map. It won't take much to convince the guard to grant me an audience with Dallia. The conversation hits a dead end no matter what I try. I bring the news back to Okuzo, who rewards me with 150gp.

To progress the quest, I need to leave the Harbor Loop altogether for another part of the city, and then come back to Okuzo's Imports. Once I do, she is being attacked by several Giant Spiders. I help her slaughter them in combat. She then explains that Dallia had the spiders delivered in boxes to her shop, along with a note that reads: "Be careful what you import." Okuzo wants me to help her play a revenge prank on Dallia.

If you do want to help her pull off the prank, you have to deliver some tainted perfume that actually works like a stink bomb to House Dallia. The House Urdo guard won't accept the perfume from you unless you make a Bluff or Diplomacy or Intimidate check, or if you give him 100gp to give the perfume to Dallia. However it plays out, it results in Dallia and her bodyguards fleeing their house after the tainted perfume does it work.

However, I prefer not to do the prank since there's a better way of handling things. I insist on speaking with the City Watch on Okuzo's behalf. I take the note that Dallia gave to Okuzo and deliver it, along with a description of what happened, to Captain Fennesh in the City Watch Barracks. The Barracks are at #11 on the Arena District map. There's a specific reason I prefer this route. Whichever way you take, the reward is 225xp once the news is brought back to Okuzo.

Progressing the quest again requires leaving the Harbor Loop and coming back to Okuzo's Imports. After that, Okuzo informs me that Dallia has committed sacrilege by urinating on her family statue, Kochi. Her honor demands nothing less than a duel with Dallia, and she would like me to back her up. If I refuse, I'll lose -1 influence with Charissa, and Okuzo will leave on her own, kill Dallia during the duel, but then herself be killed by Dallia's henchmen. I would not have learned of Okuzo's fate until I made my way back to the Market Triangle.

It is much better to agree to back her up during the duel, and not just because I gain +1 influence with Charissa. A prolonged dialogue ensues, with the end result that Okuzo still slays Dallia during a duel. But this time, I'm there to kill off the henchman. Charissa does her standard Hammer of the Gods followed by Call Lightning. Salazar blasts away with Brimstone Blast / Eldritch Chains. Mantides and Rinara are hacking away. The fight is soon won.

Had I helped Okuzo pull off the prank earlier, it would have been at this point that she decides to leave for Kara-Tur and her shop would no longer be available. That is why I prefer to speak to the City Watch instead of pulling the prank, because she'll remain in Westgate and keep her store open.

There's some loot to be had here:

The Ring of Merchant Rule becomes one of Salazar's rings for the rest of the game. The +2 Charisma bonus will help his Warlock abilities. The +4 bonus to Appraise will help him sell goods for more, and buy goods for less. In fact, my plan all along has been to avoid selling anything until I had gotten this ring, and advanced to 9th level (which I'm very close to) to get another skill point in Appraise.

As for buying goods, I don't plan to do that until I get at least 40,000gp. I'll only buy items with any surplus over 40,000gp (with justified exceptions). There's a specific reason for that which I'll explain soon enough.

Now it's time to do a few quests in the Market Triangle.
