Sun in Shadow

Sun in Shadow, Level 1

Walk of Souls

I start off at #1 on the map of the first level of Sun in Shadows. It starts off that there's darkness all around the party so that your bird's eye view doesn't show much of the level itself. All you need to do is walk ahead to about #4, and the Watcher will use his or her powers to illuminate parts of the level.

Guardians' Dome

I make my way towards the northwest corner, fighting the odd Engwithan Shade along the way. I reach the Guardian Dome at #9, where Alliria uses her powers to illuminate more of the level. The party then has to defeat several Engwithan Shades led by a Shadow Drake.

Wael

I continue east, and end up in a conversation with the deity named Wael, since I concluded The Parable of Wael task in a manner satisfactory to him (i.e. I caused the scroll to become lost).

Wael will ask what you want to do with the souls that Thaos has stolen. *Note* It is supposed to be possible to get a boon talent from Wael, when it is best to avoid indicating that you have previously accepted a request and boon from another deity during the Council of Stars quest.

He will subsequently make himself clear that he would like you to scatter those souls to completely random destinations that will be unknown to mortals and deities alike, including himself. If you previously avoided indicating acceptance of a boon from another deity, you can now commit to Wael's request. He in turn will grant you the Wael's Boon talent (+1 Intellect, +10 Defense against Confusion). Even if you indicate that you have accepted a boon from a different deity, Wael's request will still be open. You can still scatter the souls to his pleasing at the end of the game. However, you remain with the boon granted to you by a previously deity. If you scatter the souls for Wael in this circumstance, such will most certainly be considered betrayal by the deity who previously sponsored you once the endgame epilogue plays out.*Note* However, there appears to be a bug preventing the dialogue option that accepts his offer.

Sun in Shadow Court

I kill off several more Engwithan Shades led by a Shadow Drake at #6, and then a few more Engwithan Shades at #7.

Sun in Shadow Bridge

I click onto the bridge end at #12, and start a scripted interaction to jump across the chasm. I can avoid any injuries as long as all of my party members have good enough Athletics scores.

I land at #13. An ashen effigy at #14 has a Spellward Amulet, a Ring of Overseeing, and Camping Supplies.

I click on #13 and jump back across. The stairs to the next level of Sun in Shadow are at #17.

Sun in Shadow, Level 2

Sun in Shadows, Second Level

I start off at #18 on the map of the second level of Sun in Shadow. I walk along the hallways to the left, gradually making my way to the center room. There will be Ashen Effigies with a few items along the way, along with more visions of Thaos and Iovarra.

Memories of the Ancients

The good party steps ahead to #24, which completes the Memories of the Ancients quest. What follows is a prolonged encounter between Thaos and Alliria, as well as the rest of the party members, before the inevitable combat. Alliria will tend to express outrage over the atrocities that Thaos has committed over centuries.

*Evil* Memories of the Ancients

The equivalent for the evil party, where Zakara displays greater indifference towards Thaos' atrocities, and where Thaos has banters with the rest of the party members.

Thaos ix Arkannon

The last fight can be a tough one. He'll be helped by two enormous Vessels called Woedica's Judge and Woedica's Headsman, who can inflict massive damage and also knock multiple party members Prone. Thaos is himself a powerful Priest. He's particularly fond of using the Cleansing Flame spell that both inflicts Burning Damage over several rounds, and will strip party members of their buffs / protections.

I start combat by surrounding Thaos with summons to keep him occupied, while I go to work on his Vessels. Devil of Caroc, Grieving Mother and Sagani use their figurines near him. Alliria uses her figurine near him, and then tags Thaos with Sworn Enemy. Kana uses his figurine near Thaos, but then uses a Scroll of Defense followed by a Scroll of Valor.

Hiravias doesn't bother with his figurine. He immediately goes into a sequence of Moonwell, Relentless Storm, and Weather the Storm.

Alliria, Devil of Caroc, Grieving Mother and Sagani proceed to take out the Vessel to the north. Kana holds up the Vessel to the use. He also summons several weapons to continue to hold up Thaos once he has accumulated 7 Phrases.

Hiravias will also periodically renew Moonwell as needed. It is when Thaos has thinned out the crowd around him that he summons a Fire Stag near Thaos.

The party concentrates on the next Vessel after the first one. Grieving Mother has taken a beating, so Alliria uses Healing Chain on her. After that, it's a matter of ganging up on Thaos for the inevitable victory.

*Evil* Thaos ix Arkannon

As with the good party, everyone in the evil party begins by using figurines to keep Thaos surrounded and distracted. In particular, Zakara leads off with a Sworn Enemy on Thaos, and follows up by summoning Concelhaut's Shade.

The Shade immediately hits Thaos with Concelhaut's Crushing Doom. It follows up by casting Concelhaut's Parasitic Staff and attacking Thaos. Aloth likewise casts Eldritch Aim and then another Concelhaut's Crushing Doom on Thaos, with the hoping of minimizing his spellcasting.

Durance next casts Devotions for the Faithful and then Consecrated Ground. He also hits Thaos with a Cleansing Flame spell, with the intention of stripping Thaos of his buffs.

Maneha next steps up to Woedica's Judge to keep it tied down. Eder and Zahua veer to the right and go to work on Woedica's Headsman. Zakara soon joins them. The trio go to work on taking down the Headsman as quickly as possible.

Once it falls, the trio regroups with Maneha, and all of them go to work on Woedica's Judge. It's pretty tough, since the Judge can render multiple party members Prone with its blows. They guzzle Potions of Major Endurance when they have to.

Durance either tags the Judge or Thaos with his Pliambo per Casitas, or puts himself in a position to renew Consecrated Ground for his besieged comrades.

Aloth protects himself with Llengrath's Superior Elemental Bulwark and Llengrath's Safeguard. He then occasionally puts another Concelhaut's Crushing Doom on Thaos, and at one point even casts a Ninagauth's Killing Bolt on the Judge in order to bring it down as fast as possible.

The Judge eventually falls, and that's when I go all out for Thaos himself. He still has plenty of spells left, so it's still a pretty tough going. I ultimately manage to outlast him, although Durance had to cast Resurrection on Aloth just before the battle ended.

Returning Thaos To The Wheel

Now the Watcher has a decision about the ultimate fate of Thaos' soul. Alliria decides to be merciful and send his soul back to the Wheel.

*Evil* Destroying Thaos' Soul

Zakara by contrast decides to utterly destroy Thaos' soul.

Dialogue Post Victory

Alliria now speaks with each of Sagani, Hiravias, Kana and Grieving Mother following the victory over Thaos.

*Evil* Dialogue Post Victory

The equivalent video for the good party, where Aloth, Durance and Eder will all want to speak to Zakara about her pending decision about what to do with the souls that Thaos has stolen.

Woedica's Offer

I get to about #25, and that's when both Skaen and Woedica appear to Alliria in a vision. Woedica offers to accept Alliria as her new agent in Thaos' place, but Alliria turns her down.

*Evil* Woedica's Offer

Zakara accepts Woedica's offer to take Thaos' place. She receives the talent called Skaen's Boon (+1 Dexterity, +1 Stealth) in addition to Galawain's Boon.

Epilogue

Clicking on the machine means making a decision about the souls stolen by Thaos, whether to honor your previous agreement with one of the deities, or to choose another option and betray that deity. It will also commence the epilogue.

Alliria decides to honor her agreement with Hylea, and return the souls to the Hollowborn bodies they were originally meant for. Particular highlights of the epilogue include:

*Evil* Epilogue

Zakara decides the channel the souls to empower Woedica. Particular highlights of the epilogue include:
