TO MANGAR'S TOWER

Stairs to Mangar's Tower

You may have noticed that both Kylearan's Tower and Mangar's Tower are behind steel gates. The Onyx Key doesn't open those gates. It opens the front door to Mangar's Tower should you be able to reach the Tower itself behind the gates. I need a different key for the steel gates themselves. You can walk out from behind the gates without the other key. But you need the other key if you want to get past the gates from the front. That other key is my next objective.

I sell off my excess loot to Garth's, which includes two Diamond Daggers (one of which was previously unidentified) that'll come in handy later when I'm ready to do the 'Burger' battles. I then enter the Wine Cellar through the Scarlet Bard tavern.

Now I cast Apport Arcane with the coordinates -6 -5 -2. That brings me to a set of stairs in the third level of the Sewers (at 16N 17E) that lead to Skara Brae, but right next to Mangar's Tower in the southwest corner, and behind the gates that would normally deny access. I enter the Tower itself (now that I have the Onyx Key) and go up the stairs.

Master Key

Now I am going to cheat a little bit, just to make things easier for myself going forward. I cast Apport Arcane with the coordinates -10 -3 2, which brings me to The Keymaster. He sells me the Master Key for 50,000gp. I return to the stairs by casting Apport Arcane again with coordinates of 10 3 -2.

Remember those gates that normally close off both Kylearan's Tower and Mangar's Tower? Now I can simply walk past them without hindrance when I have the Master Key in my possession. I get this out of the way now so I don't have to bother with the long route to Mangar's Tower through the Sewers. And that in turn makes grinding Mangar's Tower that much easier and more convenient.

Ogre Lord Statues

There are three Ogre Lord guardian statues in the streets that lead towards Mangar's Tower. I take them out one by one.

39th Level

I recharge at Roscoe's and then return to the Review Board. Lord Stygar, Zarathos, Gallard, Ariel and Cassandra advance two levels each to reach their 39th levels of experience. Talia and Mordred advance three levels each to reach their 29th levels as Wizards.

I return to Mangar's Tower, for I am now ready to explore its first level in earnest.
