RETURN TO EASTHAVEN

Return to Easthaven

Now the party finds itself in the middle of a quite dramatically altered Easthaven. Cyclopses will be the foes you encounter here, and they can inflict pretty heavy damage should they connect. Again, inch along slowly, and take them out with missile weapons at a distance before they close.

At the bridge towards the southeast will be where the villagers have been corralled. I speak with Everard, and our apparent next destination is the Temple of Tempus.

So, I go westwards, killing more Cyclops along the way. Before actually entering the Temple, I go to the spot where I first encountered the sea spirit. Jhonen is there, and gives me the Restored Blade of Aihonen (+1 Longsword, +5 within a dragon's flight of Lac Dinneshere, +5 maximum hit points, +25% cold resistance, +25% fire resistance). Every area in the game, expansions included, is considered within a dragon's flight of Lac Dinneshere, so the sword is effectively a +5 sword. This will be the Black Thorn's weapon for the rest of the game.

Now I enter the Temple, and Everard wants me to find another way to Jerrod's Stone.

Pomab the Traitor

Now the party begins to ascend up the crystal tower. The next level up is where the party can rest.

The next level up is where the party runs into an old acquaintance, Pomab, who is revealed as a traitor that has been in cahoots with Poquelin all along. He can spawn several versions of himself, resembling a pretty funky version of Mirror Image. The False Pomabs and the Crystal Sentries can all shoot bolts of lightning. The solution is very simple, cast a Cloudkill in the middle of the room, killing off of the Pomabs as well as the Sentries.

Now I go the next level up, where there is a mirror that will take me straight to the final fight. Now, I won't put up any magic buffs. The reason for this is that the party will get hit with a Dispel Magic spell right away, and there are traps on the next level that can also hit the party with a Dispel Magic effect. But, I do have preparations to make. Everybody places a Potion of Fire Resistance in one of the quick-item slots. Everybody besides Lanatir also places a Potion of Giant Strength in one of their quick-item slots.

Belhifet

Now I step through the mirror, and witness Everard stop Poquelin's attempt to open Jerrod's Stone. Poquelin then reveals his true form, a Devil named Belhifet, and battle begins.

I get hit with a Dispel Magic right away. I then retreat towards the southwest corner, and get hit with a Symbol of Pain spell after stepping over a trap. Now everybody starts off by quaffing a Potion of Fire Resistance. The reason is that Belhifet loves fire-based spells. One is Fire Storm, another is Infernal Cyclone that will hit the party with a Flame Strike like area of effect, and then teleport Belhifet away. Once the party has drunk their Potions of Fire Resistance, it will greatly reduce the damage taken from those spells, and keep them in the battle, even after getting hit with Belhifet's spells more than once.

As the Iron Golems and Belhifet then close in on me, I then have Lanatir protect himself with Mirror Image. The rest of the party quaffs their Potions of Giant Strength to increase their hitting power. They then take out the Iron Golems first to remove Belhifet's help.

Derrick soon follows up with a Haste spell. This is when the party goes all out for Belhifet, and are able to chop him down quite quickly. My set ups have apparently worked out perfectly. Belhifet spent a lot of his attention on Halagrim, who reduced a lot of his damage with the Morningstar +4: Defender + Clasp of Bron's Cloak combination. Genevieve meanwhile inflicts massive damage on Belhifet, and also lands the killing blow.

Once the battle is over, the game displays the ending movie. Now it is time for the Trials of the Luremaster.
