Assembly of Echoes
Under Observation
Alliria goes with her Concelhaut's Crushing Doom set up. Aloth readies a few Cinder Bombs. The good party starts off at #1 on the map of the Assembly of Echoes.
Ahead at #4 will be a monstrosity known as the Memory Hoarder. The masked Wizard named Fyonlecg will also be present, as I have not yet completed the Annotated History Quest. I speak with Fyonlecg for a bit before he teleports away and leaves me to the Memory Hoarder.
The Memory Hoarder can be a tough opponent. It has plenty of Health. It can also frequently Terrify multiple party members. Pallegina always casts And Evil Turned Away From the Sun every four Phrases.
It may also turn some of the nearby Librarians to fight for it. Aloth will use a Cinder Bomb to make taking them out easier.
It also periodically unleashes hideous damage in a small radius around it. So you may either want to have a tank character with a lot of Health lock it down while everyone else uses ranged attacks like missile weapons or spells.
It is immune to Interrupts, Intellect Afflictions and Resolve Afflictions. It also has Resistance to Dexterity Afflications and Might Afflictions.
But Alliria tags it with Brand Enemy and then keeps it under thumb with multiple Concelhaut's Crushing Dooms.
Defeating it leads to 15,000+xp and completion of the Under Observation Quest. Alliria's abilities will gain from it knowledge of how to reach the body of Wael.
It also leaves behind gloves called the Left Hand of the Obscured when killed. It is an interesting possibility, as it adds +3 to Arcana and can Terrify targets Hit with Melee Attacks. It didn't fit into any of my plans though.
*Evil* Under Observation
The evil party outlasts it with the Salvation of Time-Ancestor's Memory Loop. And the Flesh Constructs are alive and help the evil party against the Memory Hoarder.
*Evil* Aperture
The evil party now clicks on the Aperture at #5. Zarathos reads Tayn's Scroll of Righteous Awakening into the Aperture. The prisoners above awaken in a rather confused state.
He also reaches into the Aperture and pulls out an Egg. The significance of the Egg won't become apparent until I leave the Assembly.
*Evil* Heldr's Horn
I show this part from the perspective of the evil party. I obtain Heldr's Horn from the corpse at #3. I right-click on it, and just doing that obtains the first upgrade for Tekehu's Robes of the Weyc. That upgrade is Memory Material. It for a short time provides a +1 Armor Rating against the type of damage the wearer just received. The latest boost to Armor Rating replaces any bonus against a different damage type that had previously been provided by Memory Material. It's not a big deal from my perspective, and I tend to view it as a stepping stone to the powers that really matter. I leave through the door at #6.
That brings me to #1 on the map of the Scriptorium. The Trephine, knowledge of which I obtained after defeating the Memory Hoarder, is at #3. I can't use it yet until I also finish the Annotated History Quest as well. The Chief Librarian there speaks to me for a bit, but none of the dialogue has any in-game consequence.
I place Heldr's Horn on the Incinerator at #4. It ignites two candles near a sarcophagus at #6. The other two candles will require a different object.
I leave through the door at #9.
Aperture
Alliria reads Llengrath's Scroll of Final Slumber into the Aperture. *NOTE* Reading Tayn's Scroll of Righteous Awakening would eventually result in enough Shady disposition to result in penalties for a Kind Wayfarer.
I otherwise make my way through the Scriptorium and speak with the Chief Librarian before returning to the Temple of Revelation.
A Shout in the Dark
I show up at #14. The door at #16 is sealed for the time being.
I speak to Tayn at #2. He isn't happy that I didn't use Tayn's Scroll of Righteous Awakening, but he takes it back and gives me 500cp.
Llengreth describes it as a mercy to have used Llengrath's Scroll of Final Slumber. She also gives me a Potion of Miraculous Healing, two Scrolls of Greater Abjuration and two Implosion Charges as rewards for completing A Shout in the Dark. A supernatural presence makes itself felt at #11.
*Evil* A Shout in the Dark
Zarathos decides to kill Retina upon its hatching, and gains 8 Reptilian Eyes.
He speaks briefly with Llengrath, who is quite disappointed to say the least.
I then speak to Tayn. He gives 11,000+ xp and Implosion Charges as his reward. We also speak at length about the Hand Occult.
*Evil* The Oracle of Wael
A fight with the Oracle of Wael is unavoidable, since Zarathos slaughtered Librarians every chance he got. The chief danger is the beams that it can shoot with its many eyes. But I manage to outlast it with the Salvation of Time-Ancestor's Memory loop.
The next upgrade for Tekehu's Robes of the Weyc requires that he use an Empowered attack five times. So I make a point of him using an Empowered version of Her Tears Fell Like Rain for the next five battles, starting with this one.
I am returned to the Temple of Revelation after outlasting the Oracle.
The Oracle of Wael
I now click on #11 and enter The In-Between for my first encounter with the Oracle. I avoided killing any Librarians. I could have avoided this fight had I both done that and not killed the Flesh Constructs, which I destroyed as a roleplaying choice. But the Oracle has decided to attack.
Alliria and Aloth sometimes put up Spell Reflection, which will reflect the rays back onto the Oracle itself. The rest of the party takes out any Shimmering Dreambeasts and Scavengers of Visions that approach the party. Mirke keeps Enduring Dance active, and periodically summons Dichotomous Souls that either attack distant minions or put extra pressure on the Oracle. Alliria of course tags the Oracle with Brand Enemy and hits it with multiple Concelhaut's Crushing Dooms.
It eventually falls and I get sent back to the Temple of Revelation.
Wasting Minds
I speak to Bekarna at #10. She rewards me with 10,000+xp, a Potion of the Fearsome Brute, two Potions of Perfect Aim and two Potions of Superior Elemental Defense to complete the Wasting Minds Quest.
I could make an Intimidate check of 16 to force her to give me a Mother of Pearl, but I decide not to.
She also wants me to find her missing grimoire. The request starts the Quest called A Rising Star.
I now go through the door at #12, with the intention of entering the Quarantined Section.
