Pillars of Eternity 2 Video-Based Walkthrough by David Milward |
Port Maje
Alteria
I sell my excess loot at the Supply Store of Port Maje, and then arrive at #10.
I speak to the merchant named Alteria at #13, and purchase a Helmet called Death's Maw from her. Eder wears it for the rest of the game. It provides -15% Damage Reduction for 10 sec when an enemy is killed within a 5m radius of the wearer, which is a very wide range. It ties in with stacking up abilities and items that provide Damage Reduction, and results in him taking little if any damage from attacks.
Henric
I go back to #10, and briefly switch in Fassina for Pallegina. I go speak to Henric at #5 and purchase two items from him.
One of them is the Physicker's Belt, which Fassina wears for the rest of the game. The +15% bonus to healing will help several of her spells, including The Moon's Light, Moonwell and the Garden of Life.
The other is the Swordsman's Bracers, which Aloth wears for the rest of the game. It provides a 10% chance to reduce Hits to Grazes from Melee Weapons, which ties in with an overarching theme of his build.
*Evil* Henric
I bring Konstanten back into the party for now. I buy the Physicker's Belt from Henric for him. The +15% to Healing Done will help in his role as the healer among the ship combatants.
Well-Supplied Traveller
I switch out Eder and Fassina for Pallegina and Ydwin.
There will be a merchant called the Well-Supplied Traveller if you spent 5 Berath's Achievement Points to make him available. The good party buys three items from him.
One of them is the Firethrower's Gloves, which Alliria wears for the rest of the game. The +2 to Dexterity is clearly welcome, as it helps as it speeds up her attacks, spellcasting, and Recovery between actions. The +1 to Arcana will increase the Power Levels with which she uses scrolls. The +1 Evocation Power Levels will stack with her bonus Power Levels from other sources when she repeatedly uses spells like Fireball and Shadowflame.
She hands over the Gauntlets of Accuracy to Mirke. The more Accuracy Mirke has, the more likely she is to score a Critical Hit that will result in the Stunning Surge attack renewing the Mortification spent, and making Stunning Surge a self-renewing attack that I can use over and over again.
I also buy the Cloak of Greater Deflection, which Alliria wears for the rest of the game. The +7 to Deflection, along with other numerous bonuses she can apply, helps her to tank and use spells from the front-lines despite wielding two weapons instead of a shield.
I also buy the Gauntlets of Ogre Might, which Pallegina wears for the rest of the game. The +2 to Might will increase the Damage of her weapon attacks. But the real point is that it will increase the Healing provided by her numerous abilities, including Ancient Memory, Exalted Endurance, Lethandria's Devotion and later on the Blackened Plate Armor.
*Evil* Well-Supplied Traveller
Now I kick out Konstanten and bring Ydwin back in. I then head over to the Well-Supplied Traveller.
Zarathos gets Gauntlets of Ogre Might. The +2 Might will, in conjunction with other bonuses, help him reach the maximum Might score of 35. He hands the Gauntlets of Accuracy over to Tekehu. He will now enjoy an Accuracy boost to his spells, several of which cause status effects like Afflictions in addition to inflicting damage.
Xoti gets the Cloak of Greater Deflection. It's a priority for me to maximize her Deflection, both as an off-tank and a spellcaster. Getting hit less often means less chance of having her spells disrupted even as she occupies the front lines of battle.
Ydwin gets The Magificent Escape Cape. It adds another bonus to her Deflection vs. Disengagement Attacks, which will help her to just walk away from her attackers when she needs to. The +50 bonus to Deflection triggers when she's below 50% Health. Its duration is low, but it can get extended endlessly by Salvation of Time in later parts of the game.
She also gets a Ring of Overseeing. It will increase the area-of-effect of a lot of her Cipher powers.
The Dawnstar's Blessing
Now I have only Eder and Xoti in the party. The reason being including almost anyone runs the risk of losing reputation with other companions, either for Alliria or Xoti.
Now I speak to Waenglith at #3, and receive the Dawnstar's Blessing (+50% Healing, +2 Religion). It lasts until the next rest. The bonus to healing will mean more Health restored when Alliria uses White Flames, when she regenerates Health after using Blood Sacrifice, or when her Silver Tide gets triggered.
*Evil* Zarathos gets the Blessing too as an until Rest bonus, although it obviously isn't as meaningful for him as it is for Alliria.
The Lantern of Gaun
Now I kick out Eder, and bring in Ydwin, Fassina and Rekke. They're three of the companions falling behind in xp.
Alliria speaks with Xoti, who's still having nightmares. Alliria chooses the spring and light response to make sure Xoti chooses the light path. I leave Port Maje on foot.
That brings me to #3 on the map of Maje Island. I travel east to the Engwithan Digsite at #7.
I arrive at #1 on the map of the Engwithan Digsite. I go through the door at #12.
I am now at #1 on the map of the Arena Sub-Level. I go to the Adra Pillar at #4, where Xoti unloads the souls she's been carrying in her Lantern. This marks her completing her personal Quest, The Lantern of Gaun where she gains appreciation of the light and rebirth aspects of Eothas' teachings.
Xoti now has the System Shock (-2 Perception, +3 Shocking Armor Rating). So now I craft a Luminous Adra Potion and have her drink it. She also gains a Luminous Adra Mantle, although her build in the good party has no real use for it.
Alliria gains Inspiring Triumph on her 9th level-up. It raises all of the party's Defenses by +12 whenever she lands a killing blow.
I return to Port Maje, put my core party back together, and return to my ship. The Southern Karatapu Island is my next destination.
