The Sacred Stair
*Evil* Xoti's Ritual
I reconfigure my party so that it includes Xoti and Eder. The next set of events will advance their personal quests. Serafen and Konstanten are also included as they tend to have lower xp than the other companions or sidekicks.
Now I arrive at #1 on the map of The Sacred Stair. I go a little east and down the stairs at #21 to reach the other end of the stairs at #20. I go through the door at #22.
I am now at the door at #1 on the map of the Temple of Gaun. I have Xoti perform a ritual at the Statue of Gaun at #4, which is a crucial step in her personal quest, The Lantern of Gaun. Zarathos encourages her to embrace the darkness and death of Gaun's teachings instead of the light. He also avoids the question of what would happen if she stopped collecting souls.
Xoti acquires an until Rest passive, The Dawnstar's Blessing. The +50% bonus to Healing will definitely help her healing spells like Restore. The +2 bonus to Religion will augment the Action Speed bonus from Xoti's Sickle, and the bonus to Damage for all party members that will soon be provided by Xoti's Lantern.
Zarathos speaks to Xoti. They come to an understanding that she needs to unload the souls of her lantern into a pillar of Luminous Adra. He of course continues to encourage her towards death and darkness.
Adaryc
The good party likewise comes to the Temple of Gaun. A key difference is that Adaryc will be alive and well at #3, to reflect that the good party left him alive and made him an ally during the White March as part of its Pillars of Eternity 1 History.
He and Alliria speak at length. She sides against him when he gets into an argument with Eder, to gain reputation with the latter.
Xoti's Ritual
Xoti also performs the ritual in the good party. The Dawnstar's Blessing will also be beneficial to her different single-class Monk build.
Alliria asks, "What would happen if you stopped collecting souls?" It earns an indignant reaction and a loss of reputation with Xoti, but it makes sure that Xoti stays on the light and life side of Gaun's teachings.
I don't speak to Xoti just yet. I'll do that later to show an alternative.
Nordagand
I speak to High Priestess Saewyn at #7. Alliria asks about Eder's old flame, and Saewyn indicates that nearby Nordagand would know more. There's also a Pet cat named Frau Nils at #8.
Alliria and Eder next speak to Nordagand at #6. Elafa had a son, and of such an age that Eder is implied to be the father. And she settled in Hasongo some time ago. The party goes back out the door at #1. Progress has been made for Eder's personal Quest, The Lighted Path.
I come back to the door at #22. I go up the stairs at #20 and go up to #21. Alliria and Eder have another conversation where the latter expresses a desire to seek out Elafa and her son. Alliria agrees to avoid losing reputation with him.
*Evil* Zarathos and Eder do the same thing in the evil party.
*Evil* The Lantern of Gaun
The evil party likewise goes west and through the door at #6.
I end up at #1 on the map of the Spire of the Soul Seers. I go up the stairs at #3.
And that brings me to #1 on the map of the Rooftop of the Spire.
I speak to Flaune Elette at #3. First, Zarathos gives her Oderisi's Notes, which earns Shady disposition.
I speak to Flaune a second time, and indicate that Xoti wants to release the souls stored in her Lantern. Xoti does manage to release the souls, although she gets the System Shock Injury as a result.
That completes Xoti's personal Quest, The Lantern of Gaun.
She also gets the Luminous Adra Mantle. I use it and 3,000cp to give Xoti's Lantern the Threshing Aura enchantment, which gives all allies within 5m bonus damage that scales with Xoti's Religion skill.
Now I go back to the lower level, but this time exit the Spire through its west door at #2.
Pallegina's Childhood
The good party likewise heads west. Pallegina wants to speak to Alliria as they approach the Spire. Pallegina speaks of her childhood, when an Animancer named Giacolo helped mitigate the effects of being Godlike on her body, which possibly helped her avoid suicide. She would now like to see Giacolo to say her thanks. Alliria readily agrees, and is encouraging towards Pallegina in order to gain reputation with her. She also avoids flirting, or suggestions that it's a waste of time, or saying that the Animancer sublimated her Godlike nature, to avoid losing reputation with Pallegina. The conversation starts Pallegina's personal Quest, The Man of Chimes.
Alliria also speaks to Flaune Elette, but with the intention of seeking out Giacolo. Flaune indicates that Giacolo maintains his own personal laboratory in a tavern called The Hole, which is in the Gullet.
The good party leaves the Spire after that.
*Evil* Luminous Adra Potions
Now it's time to get another until Rest bonus in place. I make a couple of Luminous Adra Potions. The Potions get rid of any injuries that the imbiber may have at the moment, and they add +2 to all skills until Rest.
Maia and Konstanten drink them. The reason is that they will have items with abilities and powers that scale with skills that they specialize in.
I now assemble together the core party of Zarathos, Mirke, Xoti, Tekehu and Ydwin. I make five more Luminous Adra Potions and have everyone in the party consume one. That means they all have increased ability to make their own skill checks, and increase assist bonuses to each other when it comes to assisted skill checks.
With Xoti there is the additional point that it gets rid of her System Shock Injury, which is why I waited until after completing her Quest, The Lantern of Gaun, before making the Potions.
Luminous Adra Potions
I have Ydwin and Konstanten drink Luminous Adra Potions, as they will both have items that scale according to their skills. Xoti does too, but I hold off until she completes her personal Quest.
Now I put the core party of Alliria, Aloth, Eder, Mirke and Pallegina back together, and have them consume Luminous Adra Potions too.
Mark van der Bij's Training
I travel southeast and speak to Mark van der Bij at #17. I pay him 3,000cp for his Training (+1 Alchemy, +1 Religion).
The good party goes to the exit and returns to its ship. The evil party experiences an interruption.
*Evil* Arsonists
It is now while trying to leave the city and return to the ship that the evil party now encounters the arsonists. I got some money out of them with the Shady option, but attacked them anyway with the Aggressive option.
Tekehu and Ydwin are the vulnerable characters. So I keep them behind a ring of the other party members. Tekehu summons an Ondra's Whip to complete the ring.
He also buffs the party with Nature's Balm, and then makes generous use of his bombs against as many enemies as he can, which makes a difference.
Ydwin did manage to hit the enemies with Phantom Foes. She wanted to use Puppet Master, but got frustrated by a Grease spell cast by one of the Pyromancers. Bombs are unleashed more quickly.
Xoti does at one point have to cast Withdraw on Zarathos when he's taken a beating.
I do manage to take a few of them down. At one point the battle sees a Thug fighting a couple of the Flame Blights. So I grab the opportunity to leave them to it, swing over to the west side of the area and gang up on the remaining Pyromancer. It becomes a mop up once he goes down, and Zarathos emerges fully recovered after the Withdraw.
*Evil* Soldiers in Neketaka
I have another random encounter, one where soldiers are harassing Rum-Dumb Riggere.
I decide to go into Stealth and attack the Soldiers. Stealth mode allows me to surround and take out the Druid. Ydwin frequently uses Puppet Master to keep the Barbarian on my side. The battle pretty much takes care of itself.
Now it's time to set sail To the Kangati Islands.
